BIG CHANGE:
YOU CAN NOW OFFICIALLY
GENERATE ELECTRICITY FOR YOURSELF, USE WHAT YOU NEED, AND SELL EXCESS ELECTRICITY BACK TO THE GRID THROUGH YOUR DISCO
The Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) has commenced the Net Billing Regulations 2026, a new framework that allows eligible electricity users to generate power mainly through solar energy for their own use and export excess electricity back to the distribution network.
In simple terms, if your solar system generates more electricity than you consume, you can now send the extra power back to your DisCo and receive credits under a regulated billing arrangement.
This effectively creates what the sector calls a “Prosumer” ;meaning you are both a consumer and producer of electricity.
However, there are conditions.
This is not yet targeted at the average small residential solar setup.
To qualify:
-You must already be connected to a DisCo network.
-Your renewable energy system must have a minimum installed capacity of 50kWp and a maximum of 1.5MWp
-You must obtain approval from your DisCo.
-You must sign a Net Billing Agreement and register with NERC.
Approved users will receive bidirectional meters that track: ➡️Electricity imported from the grid
⬅️Electricity exported back to the grid
How to legally earn ₦425,000 every month in Nigeria without running a business.
But there’s another system many wealthy people use this days: FGN Savings Bonds.
Issued monthly by the Debt Management Office, these bonds are:
• Government backed
• Tax free
• Paying around 14% to 17% annually
• Interest paid every 3 months
Here’s the smart part most people miss:
If you invest once, you get paid quarterly.
But if you stagger your investments across 3 consecutive months, you can create monthly cash flow.
Example:
₦10,000,000 invested in April
₦10,000,000 invested in May
₦10,000,000 invested in June
At 17% per annum, that setup can generate roughly ₦425,000 monthly in rotating payouts for up to 3 years, while your capital remains intact until maturity.
This works well for:
• Retirees needing stable income
• Diaspora Nigerians funding monthly expenses back home
• Business owners creating backup cash flow
• Young professionals building long term wealth
The rich do not only earn money.
They engineer income systems.
Start small if you can. Even ₦500,000 or ₦1,000,000 invested consistently can compound into something meaningful over time.

#NigeriaFarms: The Price of Paddy Rice has dropped significantly Selling for Between N400k per ton to N500k per ton including Transportation to most of Nigeria. This is also the beginning of the harvest season in Nigeria.
Unfortunately, the Price of Processing has gone up insanely and the prices of finished goods plummeting, putting two key players at the risk of continuing or stopping.
The Nigeria Farmers are battling to Farm Rice because of the Cost of Inputs and the Cost of Money. It is almost impossible to farm Rice in Nigeria today and make Money.
The Processors and Manufacturers are also battling to stay alive due to high cost of Processing and Logistics of Moving goods due primarily to Government Policies.
While you Blame the Nigeria farmers and processors please ask yourself. What is the Gain worth when you decide to import what you can confidently Produce?
Every Nation Nigeria is importing Rice from is massively subsidizes their Farmers.
Thailand has spent over $10billion between 2020 and 2025 Subsidizing rice production for Nigeria to import their rice, support Their Farmers, Grow their Economy and Kill Nigeria Farmers and our rural economy.
In the Union Budget 2025-26, India allocated approximately USD 44.5 billion) for combined food and fertilizer subsidies, with rice and wheat being major beneficiaries of the food subsidy portion of this budget.
@MBuhari spent N2.1trillion in 8 years, that is N260billion annually and $165million yearly to support farmers. Thailand has a Population of 70million people and India a population of 1.45billion people. Nigeria with 250million people is spending $165million and we say we are serious about Food Security?
While Nigeria farmers are demonized for not Bringing down food prices, Serious Governments with intentional localization policies are ensuring that their local farmers are sustained for their Rural Communities to be Secured because ultimately Local driven Food Security is the Best way to ensure National Security.
Nigeria Must Farm for Nigeria to Work!

I thought I have written about this TCN - NISO unbundling but when I checked I did not.

Outcome of our investigations and recommendations on Kolmani Oil Drilling work in Gombe State:
A few weeks ago, we initiated a #ConversationsForChange on the state of the oil drilling project in the Gombe/Bauchi region. We reached out to some stakeholders and held a Twitter space to discuss the matter.
Below is the summary of our findings:
1. NNPC is fully committed to the work, and there are almost 1 billion barrels of oil reserves in the location.
2. The work has partially stopped because the contractors in charge of exploration have completed their phase of the work. Next, contractors in charge of the development phase are to take over. This phase is expected to commence within Q2 of the current year.
3. Other infrastructures such as road networks are being developed.
4. Even after the development phase, the project may take up to a five-year gestation period.
Recommendations:
1. The government should encourage exploration companies to train and hire local talents.
2. Our youth should be mentored to study relevant courses and develop necessary skills to take over the sector when completed.
3. Bauchi and Gombe state governments should set up a task force that will track the progress of the work. They should also keep in touch with the GMD of NNPC at regular intervals to ensure the smooth completion of the project.
4. There is a need to reach out to the stakeholders mentioned above to ensure this project does not end as another abandoned project.
Let's talk about electricity metering.
A means to an end but not the end itself. Look at this data below.
12m people are registered customers in the country, but only 5.7m are metered.
7.1m people enjoying electricity without meters. 😅they billed those people using estimates
