Today We Remember Staff Sergeant David P. Day, USMC

Born in Littleton, Colorado, SSgt David P. Day enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in September 2003. He began his career as a rifleman before earning a place with the Reconnaissance community, serving with the Recon Indoctrination Platoon, 1st Reconnaissance Battalion, and 3rd Reconnaissance Battalion.

In February 2009, he changed his military occupational specialty to Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) and later that same year joined the Marine Forces Special Operations Command (MARSOC), where he continued serving with exceptional courage and dedication.

On April 24, 2011, while deployed in Afghanistan, Afghan National Army personnel requested his assistance in neutralizing a pressure-plate improvised explosive device (IED). As SSgt Day worked to disarm the device, it detonated, claiming his life.

For his sacrifice and unwavering devotion to duty, he was posthumously promoted to the rank of Staff Sergeant.

Today we honor SSgt David P. Day and all those who willingly place themselves in harm's way to protect others. His courage, selflessness, and commitment to his fellow Marines and our Nation will never be forgotten.

Her name is Gina Martin. She was at a music festival in London when a man pushed his phone between her legs and took a photo under her skirt. She reported it to the police immediately. They told her it wasn't a criminal offence. There was nothing they could do.
She went home and decided that was unacceptable. With no legal background, no political connections and no funding she launched a campaign to make upskirting a criminal offence in England and Wales. She petitioned. She lobbied MPs. She spoke publicly about what had happened to her. The government initially blocked the bill.
She kept going. The Voyeurism Act passed in January 2019. Upskirting now carries up to two years in prison. Scotland followed. Other countries are following. A woman at a festival with no lawyer, no funding and no political connections rewrote the law for an entire nation in eighteen months.
