Prayerlessness is a soft rebellion against God.
You do not pray because you’re currently in material ease. You’re deluded into a sense of self-sufficiency and autonomy. You’re where Satan wants you.
But you ought not be at ease unless your soul is daily united with Jesus, your Creator. Like a deer in this desert of a broken world, you should restlessly pant for Him.
It is in the nature of sin to twist the order of love and the order of being.
The same cultures that have a high tolerance for abortions are also the same cultures that have zero tolerance for animal cruelty.
The problem is not that they hate life. Rather they hate humanity.
We cordially invite you to join us tomorrow, the 7th of June 2026 for our morning and evening services
We start our Sunday Morning Worship Service
with the Doctrinal Class at ⏰ 9:00 AM.
We would be continuing our teaching on the doctrine of the HOLY SPIRIT.
By power here he’s not talking about sanctification and holiness, where the transforming power of the Spirit is even most clearly seen, but miracles.
I long for the day when the “Operations of The Spirit” would primarily refer to sanctification first before anything.
On the day of the thanksgiving after my father's funeral (a year today), the pastor had a special prayer service against the spirit of death for the congregation, in front of us, the grieving family of an elder of the same church.
Good theology will save the Nigerian church.
I don’t say this often but there’s a way you speak about grief that lets me know that you have sat at Jesus’ feet and tugged on his merciful garment.
Please consider writing a memoir or something.
When it comes to doctrine, there is still a whole lot for me to learn and be grounded in. But whenever I look back at how the Lord has ordered my steps, there is far too much to be thankful for.
I can never underestimate how what you know of God can, in a very real sense, affect the quality of your life. One of my favorite testimonies of what correct doctrine has done for me is how I have generally become less anxious over the years through studying and meditating on the sovereignty of God.
There are other things I can point to as well, instances where a shift in my perspective through the revelation of God has continued to move my life in directions I ordinarily would not have embraced before now. It is this same experience of being anchored in God’s eternal wisdom that I hope others will come into as I expound the Scriptures.
False doctrine keeps people bound, and many do not understand the extent to which their vision of reality has been blurred until God, by His Spirit, lifts the veil from their eyes as they respond to His Word with meekness and surrender. People who insist on their own ways independent of God’s will always reap the fruits of such ideas as they live with a lingering restlessness that nothing they ever do can address.
The problem really is not falling into sin because, in this broken world, absolute sanctification is impossible. This is why we have an Advocate in Christ before the Father. God interacts with us entirely on the merit of Christ, such that no man can look to his works as the basis of his fellowship with God or as the reason for the good gifts in his life. The problem is becoming desensitized to the practice of sin, because all such acts are works of darkness. Since God dwells in light and is holy, continuing in evil is a rejection of fellowship with Him. And this primarily is what we need to be wary of: a heart that assumes right standing with God while continually choosing everything He rejects. The apostles say such a person deceives himself alone, and the truth of God is not in him.
Your first introduction to the Apostles Creed should not have been on Twitter or X.
Your first introduction to the Nicene creed should not have been as a result of a twitter space.
It’s not normal. Am I grateful? Yes! Should we be alarmed? Yes!!!!!
DEAR CHRISTIAN, SUFFERING FOR CHRIST IS NOT STRANGE SO DO NOT BE SURPRISED
"Beloved, do not be surprised at the fiery ordeal among you, which comes upon you for your testing, as though some strange thing were happening to you" (1 Peter 4:12)
Peter, in addition to all he has said already (1:6-7; 2:18-25; 3:14), says to the saints “beloved, do not be surprised at the fiery ordeal among you…”
This is the second time he is using the word “surprised" ... In vs. 4, the people of the world “are surprised that you do not run with them into the same excesses of dissipation (debauchery, wasteful living), and they malign you.”
Your former companions in sin are surprised at your holy conduct.
That is to be expected… because you are no longer like them—you have been saved.
In the same vein, Christians should not be surprised that unbelievers are persecuting them for their faith.
Recall the label he used in describing them, strangers/aliens (1:1; 2:11).
Should strangers/aliens in a foreign land be surprised or taken aback that they are treated with disdain? (ref. ongoing protests in South Africa)
Two key phrases to note: “fiery ordeal” and “your testing”.
Peter says these came upon you “for your testing.” How did it come upon the saints? Their Father in heaven ordained it.
Thus, trials in the lives of the saints are not random occurrences. What appears to be uncalculated to the naked eye are in reality under the direction of the sovereign God.
The saints are being tested by fire, so that their lives may be found to result in praise and glory and honour at the revelation of Jesus Christ (ref. 1:7)
So if you’re in a trial at the moment because of your faith in Christ, do not think that something strange is happening to you.
When you hear that believers are attacked because they are believers, do not be surprised. Rather, be surprised that you are not being tested for your faith.
It is not abnormal that Muslims hate Christians!
As the apostle goes on to say, those suffering as Christians are: blessed (14), have no need to be ashamed (16), and should go on rejoicing (13)
Applications
1. Live expecting to suffer for your faith so that you’re not surprised when it comes upon you.
If you don’t grasp this truth, do not be surprised if you despise God when that trial comes.
2. It is actually important that you’re a Christian. Many suffer and many have died in our nation because those perpetuating evil do not care to know who is truly regenerate.
Such people, sad to say, are not suffering for Christ’s sake because they are not His.
In my itineraries, I've observed how difficult it is to sustain moments of sobriety for reflection and repentance.
You can preach the heart of God and get people weeping on their seats, and then as you close your session, a moderator comes up and with a clownish "Plaise tha lord, Now its time to give God a dance offering"....
Every bit of repentance you were trying to build collapses because the showbiz schedule is more important than the burdens of God.
