BREAKING: The US appears to have abandoned its naval blockade line against Iran, pulling its aircraft carriers off it entirely after Iran's first use of anti-ship ballistic missiles against a carrier. The warships have not been located in the CENTCOM area on Sentinel-2 satellite imagery since the beginning of September, including the USS George H.W. Bush, the USS George Washington, the amphibious assault ship USS Boxer and even their escorting destroyers.

The finding suggests the US has pulled back beyond the range of Iranian anti-ship missiles from a blockade line that until August sat at the exit of the Gulf of Oman. The pullback was likely prompted by Iran's first use of anti-ship ballistic missiles against a US carrier on the night of September 5 with the Qasem Basir, which has a range of about 1,200 km and covers almost the entire Arabian Sea.

Iran said on September 12 that not a single US warship remains in the Persian Gulf, down from around 30 before the attack, with all US vessels holding at least 400 km off the Iranian coast. Iran's SNSC chief Rezaei said the Qasem Basir "created hell for the Americans, and they fled."

Independent imagery had not supported that withdrawal until now.

In recent years, ministers, MKs, top military officers, and even the prime minister himself have openly boasted about the Elimination Project Israel is implementing in the West Bank. They take pride in the violence, land grabs, settlement expansion, the expulsion of Palestinians from their land, home demolitions, and efforts to change the reality on the ground. What was once denied or hidden is now being said openly.

No need to guess or search for hidden plans. Just listen to what they say and look at what is happening on the ground.

B’Tselem’s new report shows that these are not merely isolated extremist remarks. They reflect a political plan, backed by an entire system designed to carry it out. Its purpose is to dismantle the very infrastructure that allows Palestinians to exist as a collective in the West Bank, while expanding and reinforcing Israeli control and Jewish presence across the area.

This is the elimination project, and it is being carried out in the open.

Israel is systematically killing, torturing, imprisoning and displacing Palestinians in the West Bank on a vast scale. This is a coordinated assault by the military, police, intelligence services, prison authorities and settler militias, all backed by Israel's legal system.

In the past three years, Israel has killed more than 1,100 Palestinians in the West Bank, 240 of them children or teens, and at least 32 Palestinians from the West Bank have died in Israeli detention facilities. The military has repeatedly raided cities, villages and refugee camps, shooting and killing people, destroying homes and infrastructure and carrying out mass arrests. Meanwhile, thousands of settlers have been drafted into military units, authorized to carry weapons and granted official powers, while the state gives them free rein and military backing. Since October 2023, settlers have killed 35 Palestinians in the West Bank. In the first half of 2026 alone, more than 1,020 attacks against Palestinians were documented, averaging more than five a day. On the ground, the line between “settler” and “soldier” is increasingly disappearing.

Israeli soldiers, settlers and police officers are almost never held accountable for harming Palestinians. They are protected by a system that shields them from accountability and grants them effective impunity – not as an oversight, but as part of the system.

This violence affects more than the direct victims: it holds an entire society in a state of constant fear. Every day, 3.5 million Palestinians in the West Bank know that armed soldiers and settlers may enter their homes at any moment, while stepping outside is a calculated risk with checkpoints popping up unannounced and the threat of arbitrary violence is ever present.

The fear is not an unexpected byproduct of the violence: it is a deliberate means of control.

Intimidating an entire people is one arm of the Elimination Project: Israel's ongoing effort to dismantle the conditions that allow Palestinians to exist as a collective in the West Bank, while cementing Jewish supremacy and control over the land.
