After 10 pm and there’s no end in sight. I’ll be here as long as it takes, voting against this crazy giveaway to ICE.
When will Republicans do ANYTHING to lower costs instead?
NEW: I just introduced an amendment that would block Bill Pulte from being DNI.
If even half of my Republican colleagues that have privately voiced concerns about him vote for this… it should pass.
Bipartisan opposition to Trump's war in Iran is growing, and fast.
Today, House Republicans helped pass a resolution to end the war.
Two weeks ago, the Senate did the same on a resolution I cosponsored with @SenTimKaine and other colleagues. In the week ahead, the Senate has another vote to require congressional approval or end the war.
It's long past time did so.
Bill Pulte is a Trump sycophant known only for his willingness to attack Trump’s political opponents.
He has no intelligence experience and no military service.
Does anyone really want him to have the keys to our intelligence agencies?
Trump is trying to impose a bogus political litmus test for all federal grants – limiting the funding, subjects, and potential discoveries of our researchers.
The cost of such a test would be felt for generations and could permanently stunt American scientific progress.

"Americans have every reason to worry about what happens when the official charged with overseeing everything from counterterrorism to foreign election threats is chosen for his willingness to advance the president's political agenda rather than his experience. That is how intelligence becomes politicized, how inconvenient facts disappear, how agencies charged with protecting our democracy instead become tools to manipulate it, and how Americans are left more vulnerable to a terrorist attack."
My statement on President Trump's appointment of Bill Pulte as Acting Director of National Intelligence:
"This appointment speaks volumes about what this president expects from the nation's top intelligence official. Rather than selecting a respected national security professional capable of delivering independent judgments, the president has chosen an official who has demonstrated not just willingness but eagerness to use the authorities of government to pursue political retribution. Americans have already seen Mr. Pulte use the powers of his office at the Federal Housing Finance Agency to pursue the president’s grievances and lend credibility to dubious prosecutions of President Trump’s perceived political opponents.
