An online coursework that I did not enjoy as much was the one about the structure of the Opioid Crisis essay because I did not enjoy that reading very much. #flamm101
I really enjoyed the media blackout online coursework (9/27). It was a really cool that I was able to complete it easily, while also understanding the point of the assignment. #flamm101
A reading I did not enjoy was "The Family That Built an Empire of Pain". I thought it was interesting, but it had so much information that I didn't really find relevant to the focal point of the writing piece. #flamm101
A bad habit that I have tried to improve this semester has been to sound less repetitive when writing. I have tried to vary my sentence structure. #flamm101
After: Even though sharing the concert via social media may show your friends and followers how thrilling the concert is, you are actually the only one being deprived of an organic, unique experience. #flamm101
Before: Although social media may provide those absent viewers with some enjoyment, it takes away from the physical experience of being at a concert. #flamm101
@berman_devin I definitely agree with this statement. Ruderman exuded confidence about his topic, creating a sense of trust between himself and the reader. I also need to do more of this in my own writing #flamm101
Breit provided a lot of his own personal experiences in order to establish credibility with the reader. I feel like in my own writing, I could do a better job of this in order to better connect with my audience. #flamm101
Strong Sentence: In contrast, Zachary uses personal pronouns to delve into his own thoughts on his argument and experiences that he has been engaged with. #flamm101
@benlofro I liked how you structured this counter argument. The uses of words like "detriment" along with "robbing" work with each other to create a sense of negativity and refutation in the argument.
Working Thesis: The advancement of social media and streaming has completely restructured the music industry, allowing for beneficial change.
Counter: Social media and streaming have actually had the opposite effect on the industry, destroying music as we once knew it. #flamm101
Memorable Piece: "What Your Tweets Say About You"
-I found this writing piece so memorable because I found it insane that counties with higher uses of words connected to hostility were revealed to have vastly higher rates of heart disease. #flamm101
@berman_devin I like the concept of this thesis, but "seemingly effortlessly" comes off a bit awkward. Also maybe use a different word other than "significant" to describe the audience. You could use words like "more specific" or "broader" depending on your argument here.
1) Social media is responsible for the downfall of real artistry in music.
2) The music industry will forever be on the rise because of social media. *
3) Social media is the reason that the music industry values quantity over quality.

The people most receptive to Carlin's argument would be receptive those who view climate change as non-threatening. However, Klein's argument would be most receptive to those showing interest in preserving the planet. Klein would not be very effective at a comedy club. #flamm101
Carlin gets his credibility from being confident, comedic and by using history to solidify his argument. This type of logic is effective in a comedic setting but in an academic setting, Klein's more detailed and statistical argument proves more effective. Vice versa. #flamm101
