im on a pursuit of reasoning about why enlightenment is not apathy. from where i stand today, from whatever I've been through; it looks like it is. i hope i get my answers soon. i hope i learn to ask better questions
@lichthauch I miss my kind mother so much. She defined what frightening consistency was all about. Just real work, respect towards other folk, either good or bad, and zero complaints while she was at it. I wish to become half of what she is.
Everybody wants to be enlightened, nobody wants to do the fucking dishes. the highest thing you can be as a human being is not the thing you understood, it's the thing you did. some guy who can't spell his own name right but built a house with his two hands that actually stands is closer to God than any man who read a thousand books and never moved his thumb for anyone else. not because he prayed because he made a thing exist that didn't exist before, and that's what God did, and that's all anybody is asking you to do
The best thing i ever did for my mind was taking seriously the people everyone else laughed at. the paranoids, the obsessives, the men who couldn't shut up about one thing for twenty years. everybody called them crazy and i listened to them instead, because the truth is, normal people do not find anything. they circulate, they sound right, they get invited back, but they have never found a thing in their life. every real idea i came to came from someone who had been dismissed and ridiculed and had kept going anyway. if you want to grow, stop learning from the people who sound like they know truth, and start listening to the people who sound like truth ate them alive
I think most people misunderstand the universe as a place where things happen to them. it is not. it waits for you to speak first. God built it this way, so the cowards would stay cowards and the brave would find out. whisper self-pity into it and it will preserve that self-pity for you. speak command you do not yet feel worthy of and watch it start shaping you into someone who can finally carry it
The age of smart is over. what's coming belongs to people who can still cry, people whose hands shake before they do something honest, people who walk out of rooms midsentence because their body told them to, people who kneel down to God. people who pray without words, people who touch trees, people who know when to go home. the smart ones will call this regression, they'll write essays about it, how dangerous it is, how primitive it is, and meanwhile their marriages are dry, their kids are strangers, their bodies are betraying them with insomnia. they feel the door closing and they look for the key inside the same room that locked them in. seeing was never their gift, and now the bill is due
This is the best period in Human history for anyone with agency & taste.
AI, in its current & future form, barring ASI/AGI, will only be a force multiplier.
AI can amplify the output, it cannot cultivate taste.
You have to be able to call your own shots - specially the riskier ones.
That is your only way to asymmetric gains.
A good leading indicator of which is a 'reactive' response from a close friend/family member who thinks you are insane to be doing the said thing.
