It’s not just the numbers.
It’s what we want out of life.
It’s our relationships.
It’s avoidance of fear and pain.
It’s the expectations we carry.
It’s ADHD, or depression, or addiction.
It’s what we dream about.
It’s everything.
There’s meaning behind the mess. Don’t miss it.

All of this was on my mind this morning as I read this article, with quotes from the ever-wise @mindmnybalance and Dr. Megan McCoy. https://t.co/eqaZqoIn4l
In June 2020, my very healthy stepdad received a cancer diagnosis. Because of remote work due to Covid, my brother and I + our families were able to essentially move in, to team-parent our littles and team-care for our dad, who died peacefully at home on 7/29/20.
This was my shocking entrance to the sandwich phase, the demands of which are no joke. The stakes are quite literally life and death. How does money shape our options? How do family dynamics re-emerge and get processed? What do we owe our parents, our kids, ourselves?

How can you move forward after a blowout fight over money differences? @CharlotteCowles is smart and sensible about these things and sometimes she lets me help. https://t.co/VmlPJqmWXi

“When we're talking to each other, we kind of create a single überbrain that isn't reducible to the sum of its parts. Like oxygen and hydrogen combine to make water, it creates something special that isn't reducible to oxygen and hydrogen independently.”

Climate science is over 170 yrs old but climate denial is less than 30 yrs old. It didn't exist until the impacts of climate change shifted from future to present, implying action was needed. The goal of denial isn't to question science: it's to delay action, as long as possible.
