The decade from 2002 to 2012 was the absolute golden era for Maharashtra and Mumbai, and my own life is living proof of it.
Back then, I did my engineering at a private college, and the fees were barely ₹15,000. Today? It’s shot up nearly 10 times with zero job guarantee! It was a booming era for IT, and I landed a job right out of the gate in 2005. Real estate was actually affordable—with just 2 years of work experience, I bought my own home in Mumbai,
Just look at today’s reality, someone with 2 years of experience can’t even dream of buying a house on their salary.

I used to rely on local trains; sure, they were crowded, but it was strictly during peak hours, and you could actually manage to commute without losing your sanity. BEST buses were a backbone with a fleet of around 5,000 buses-today, they’ve gutted it down to less than 2,000.

Roads had far less traffic because the wave of uncontrolled migration hadn't ruined everything yet. Public spaces were clean and livable before this massive BIMARU-fication took over. The air was cleaner, and the air quality index was actually healthy. Footpaths and open spaces weren't choked with illegal encroachments like they are today.

Fancy towers, bridges, and metros don't make a city or state livable! Over the last 10 years, reckless migration has completely overrun our infrastructure—no matter how many flyovers you build, it will NEVER be enough. But nobody in power has the damn guts to address the real elephant in the room- rampant BIMARU migration.
