The actions of this Government are seriously disturbing and completely indefensible.

In the week they chose to carry out damaging medical experiments on children to stop their puberty, they also announced they want to imprison parents who don’t affirm a confused child’s delusion that they are in the ‘wrong body’.

Their Bill to end conversion therapy, will ensure that children who would otherwise be gay, or autistic, will now be hurried along the path to chemical castration and lifetime medical care.

This is peak ideological capture and utterly absurd.

‘Non-binary’ is not a biological category. Sex is binary and immutable, male or female, determined by chromosomes, gametes and reproductive anatomy. It is observed at birth, not assigned.

There is no third sex, no spectrum, and no scientific basis whatsoever for ‘non-binary’ as a legal or medical reality. It is pure activist fiction.

Coppinger’s bill is just as dangerous: allowing parents to register intersex (DSD) babies with an ‘X’ marker instead of their actual sex. These are rare medical disorders of sexual development, not evidence of a ‘third sex’.

Modern diagnostics reliably determine the underlying sex within a short timeframe.

Tampering with birth certificates to appease ideology, risks distorting medical records, will delay proper care for vulnerable infants, and will normalise the lie that sex is fluid or negotiable.

While Ireland grapples with a housing crisis, failing services and cost-of-living pressures, these politicians waste time embedding fantasy into law.

Women and children deserve policies grounded in material reality, not delusions.
Sex is binary. Biology is not bigotry.

Many people don’t know that ethics about conversion practices are already covered under our accreditation bodies. We don’t need extra laws for conversion therapy as an accredited therapist must already be ethical and non-coercive.
It’s a classic example of needless government intervention in a situation they don’t understand - or else they are cynically virtue signalling

An analogy would be governments insisting on creating legislature for double foundations being laid for all buildings. Everyone who knows anything about it would scratch their heads and say this is needless. Everyone else nods their head sagely and presumes it’s safer
