Gr. 6/7 teacher, fostering self-regulated learners as I teach honesty, empathy, and compassion to 28 young students at a time. UBC MEd in SRL #sd36learn#STEM
Here’s how it was made: young female coder who had an idea of having an interactive door and she figured it out along the way. Lots of testing but so worth the confidence this project helped her build!

Div 2 & 15 are using buddy time to complete a @VIAstrengths assessment. When we know and live into our strengths each day we build positive emotions, meaningful engagement, deepen relationships, create meaning & celebrate accomplishments ❤️ @MaddaughSD36@mandeepR41#PERMA
@beedle_melissa@Surrey_Schools@MaddaughSD36 Also, some Surrey schools will already have copper tape as it was delivered as a consumable with the Tools for Schools ADST kits a few years back. Please don’t hesitate to contact me directly if you have more questions! [email protected]
@beedle_melissa@Surrey_Schools@MaddaughSD36 I buy most of my materials off Amazon. The LED lights will last you for countless years and I use the copper tape for various projects. The only yearly cost is the 3V battery for each student. Here’s a great resource to help get you started: https://t.co/DdVogfl0OT
Grade 5/6 students made light up Mother’s Day cards complete with adorable puns! We used copper tape, 3V coin cell batteries, and LED light emitting diodes to create these paper circuits. So much learning and problem solving for love. ❤️

We made operation games using @makeymakey & @scratch to learn about the digestive system! Students designed games & built codes + connected using copper tape & alligator clips. I’ll be sharing more at tomorrow’s Focus Day w/ @sutton_c#sd36learn@GirlsWhoCode#STEM#ADST#STEAM
When @Surrey_Schools and @gcspoon send over @littleBits and the teacher has no idea how to use them… give them to curious minds and see what happens! My students are teaching me how to use our new tools! Watch them reflect on their design thinking:

@janeteacher2 Absolutely. I’ve moved over to the convenience of Microsoft Teams as well… so much easier collaborating with Surrey teachers. It’s also great for distance or online learning if need be.
Div. 4 took on principal @Vendram1n in a Mystery Skype! Students worked as a team to ask and answer questions to reveal clues about their opponent’s mystery number.
Collab with a teacher to see numeracy skills and #corecompetencies in action!
@MaddaughSD36@Surrey_Schools
@T_Saito1 I’m up for a round anytime! We can also do this with a mystery location! Each class picks a country in the world. Students use planners and ask directional and geographical questions. (Above/below equator, national language, continent, nearby bodies of water, climate)
@janeteacher2 Discourage guessing the number without enough clues. Also, try it with a mystery location! Each class can pick a country in the world, students use planners and ask directional and geographical questions. (Above/below equator, national language, continent, nearby bodies of water)
@janeteacher2 I don’t limit the number of questions we ask as long as it’s one at a time and opponent always gets a question after we ask one. If a team guesses the right answer you can continue or stop there. Part of the challenge is using math language to communicate a yes or no question!
@KidsCoding I’ve been trying to connect with someone via email and phone and have been getting zero response for weeks. I’m a teacher in Canada and I need some info, please connect with me.
Today, every view of this video helps create positive change. All you need to do is watch it and Bell will donate 5¢ more to Canadian mental health initiatives. Retweet to help spread the word! #BellLetsTalk
Collaboration from a distance. ❤️ Grade 2, 3, and 7 students created a timeline of their favourite books that have influenced their lives. Inside the beautiful covers, students shared how these stories have impacted their lives. @DeeKellyP@Surrey_Schools@celinedympna#sd36learn
@harv291@ghollybow@Surrey_Schools What better way to get their attention? This looks great, glad your students enjoyed bringing their favourite game to life and adding that dash of math to it! 🥰
