🎈‼️🔥 Commissioner Khumalo takes Brigadier Matjeng head on! Khumalo argues that as the end-user of the procured services, Matjeng was part of the procurement process from the beginning, not after contract was signed as she claims.

The first judgment of 2025:
In an application by the DA, Joburg High Court Judge Stuart Wilson finds that the @CityofJoburgZA’s practice to give bodyguards to the Mayor x10, Speaker x8 and MMCs x5 is unconstitutional and invalid; and these bodyguards must be removed in 6 weeks.
🚨Did you know that it was former Minister Sihle Zikhalala and not Dean Macpherson who “exposed” the R300million cybercrime theft at the department Public Works and Infrastructure?
The DA is taking credit for doing nothing and in this case trying to take full credit for the work of others, possibly risking investigations by blurting it out to the public while investigations by the Hawks are still ongoing.
On 10 July 2024:
the DA posts on Twitter “Dean Macpherson has exposed a staggering R300 million in cybercrime theft within the department.”
But truth is it wasn’t the DA’s Minister who discovered this crime. It was the previous ANC’s Minister Sihle Zikhalala. He with his deputy and department officials had already launched an investigation before Macpherson succeeded Zikhalala.
The facts:
https://t.co/HTDXZCg6Ch handing over to Macpherson, it was Zikhalala and his team who informed Macpherson that he launched an investigation after they discovered that R24 million was removed from the account in May this year.
2.This discovery prompted further investigation by a number of officials who suspected this was going on for far longer.
3.Zikhalala had taken steps to suspend a number of officials and confiscated electronic devices.
4.Additionally Zikhalala had already involved the Hawks who confirmed to Macpherson that investigations are progressing.
These facts were revealed by Macpherson himself in when he appeared in an interview on eNCA with Heidi Giokis on 13 July 2024 (Reference 1).
Notably, after Macpherson was briefed in confidence, he and the DA then felt it was important to announce this to South Africans for what he claims in the interview with Giokis as “transparency”.
But prior to appearing on eNCA the DA had been promoting and taking full credit as if Macpherson exposed the theft when in fact he has done nothing aside from reporting this to the DA leadership.
Instead of sharing all the facts the DA chose to selectively promote Macpherson as the person who discovered the crime.
Concerns:
❗️This crime is sensitive so why with an ongoing investigation involving the Hawks would the DA risk the progress and process by announcing it to the public?
❗️Wouldn’t this compromise the investigation by alerting other perpetrators and risking the lives of any whistleblowers?
❗️Shouldn’t such announcements rather be withheld after investigations are complete, charges are opened with SAPS and arrests made, including the safety of witnesses and whistleblower?
❗️Did the DA think this through before the public announcement?
On 10 July 2024 the DPWI published a notice in response the DA’s announcement (refer to the link in the thread - Reference 2)
my forever hot take:
salaries within a company should be fully transparent to ALL employees 📄📄
salary secrecy is a massive enabler of labour exploitation, discrimination & shielding of incompetence 🥷🥷
