Good use of free speech here on X. Bravo for a well reasoned post. I have a lot of admiration for @elonmusk’s commercial missions, but it seems that the Trump mind virus - perhaps like the woke one - loosens one’s grip on factuality and increases one’s sense of X-users’ gullibility.

.@elonmusk This is important. Let's do it one statement at a time:

"The Dems are doing deliberate voter importation to swing states & fast-tracking them to citizenship." This is misleading. Undocumented immigrants cannot simply "become citizens." The pathway to citizenship is highly regulated, requiring lawful permanent residency (a green card) first, which can take years, even decades. Furthermore, there is no evidence of Democrats expediting this process for political purposes. Legal immigration and citizenship processes are slow, complex, and thoroughly vetted.

"Enough migrants can vote to flip all swing states, shifting the whole country to permanent one-party rule." This is a conspiracy theory with no factual basis. Asylum seekers go through a rigorous process and are not automatically granted citizenship. Most asylum seekers take years to achieve lawful status, and even longer for naturalization. There is zero credible evidence of coordinated relocation efforts aimed at swing states to influence elections. Furthermore, asylum seekers cannot vote until they complete the lengthy naturalization process, which takes many years.

"Just like what happened to California after the 1986 amnesty." This is an inaccurate portrayal of California’s political shift. Even after the 1986 amnesty, California remained politically competitive for years, and today Republicans still hold seats in Congress and statewide offices.

"The Dem machine’s voter importation scam is the true threat to democracy, not Trump!" This claim is alarmist nonsense, designed to manipulate emotions and undermine the fundamentals of American democracy. Let’s not forget that Trump, in his desperation, did everything in his power to steal the 2020 election after losing by over 7 million votes. He even called for the termination of the U.S. Constitution, a clear signal that his respect for democracy evaporates when things don’t go his way. Then there was his fake elector scheme, a brazen attempt to override the will of the American people and cling to power.

Let’s be clear: Trump is the one who threatens democracy, not the one to "save" it. His Project 2025 lays out a dangerous blueprint for consolidating power in ways that could undermine democratic institutions, centralizing control over federal agencies to serve his agenda. If there’s any risk of this being "the last election," it’s Trump who could make that a reality if given another term. That’s the real threat we should be concerned about.

These claims attempt to cast a false narrative around immigration and voting that doesn’t hold up under scrutiny. Facts consistently disprove such conspiracies.

Your post resonates with me. Running on competence, restoring optimism to SF and your readiness to do the long hours and hard work of public service - because you really care about our City - aren’t the norm in campaigns these days. Keep projecting that. It is authentic. And like standing up to a bully, keep pushing back on the smears. What this all boils down to is that an effective mayor can play a huge role in SF’s recovery and prominence. I hope the undecided come to realize this.
