One of my buddy’s sons skipped college and became an electrician at 18.
He was told either college or military were his only two options.
His parents weren’t exactly excited when he went to trade school. Actually they were a little embarrassed.
Most of their friends’ kids were going off to universities. Their son was showing up to job sites at 6am.
By 21 he was making $90k
By 24 he had his master electrician license making over $120k
At 27 he started taking his own jobs on the side for a total of $200k
Last year at 29 his little “electrician business” did $1.8M with 4 vans.
Funny how that works.
His parents used to explain why he didn’t go to college.
Now they tell everyone he owns an electrical company.
We need more 18-year-olds to know this path exists.

After an isolated and first time bite incident involving a family member, the city of Tuscan, AZ unlawfully removed Snuggles from his family’s homestead—and his family has now been fighting to bring him home for almost a year!
They have had to fight simply for proof of life. They have spent well over $20,000 to keep their own dog boarded at a local shelter, where he is receiving minimal medical care, if any at all. His family has not received a single photo update and has not been allowed to see him.
Even more disturbing, county reports have characterized the incident as a “mauling” and an “attack.” Those descriptions are blatantly false and completely misrepresent what actually happened.
Snuggles was born and bred to be a working farm dog. He is a gentle giant who is deeply loved by his family. Instead, he has spent nearly a year confined inside a small enclosure on a cement floor, separated from his family, his farm, and everything he knows—with no end in sight.
This is animal cruelty. This is a violation of basic rights. And all of those involved in #tuscanaz must be held accountable!

I am GLAD that the headline on the trending page regarding Wang Wang used the word "TORTURE".
I say that because I've noticed that several news articles and posts about Wang Wang on social media by news accounts have used words such "abuse" and "beat up" that downplay the true severity of torture and sadism that the five boys inflicted on Wang Wang.
This makes people think "oh.... it was bad but they just '"killed a dog"' at the and of the day".
The truth is that the five boys inflicted an over hour-long, sustained campaign of various methods of torture, mutilation, and cruelty on Wang Wang and her puppies. It was the torture the likes of which I'd only read and heard about in serial killer documentaries, court testimonies and medieval torture methods.
Just *some* of what those boys did to Wang Wang and her puppies.
-Clubbed her with long planks of wood embedded with long, sharpened nails with all their strength, over and over
-Garotted her with sharp chicken wire to drag her around and when the handle broke, the wire around her neck remained which continued to choke and suffocate her for the rest of the entire ordeal
-They SHATTERED her legs by pummelling her with the heavy planks of wood they had
-Whipped her again and again.
-They stuck an industrial adhesive ignition pad on her fur when she thought it was over and was sitting still and unable to move, poured gasoline on her and set her on fire. She became entirely engulfed in flame and ran around frantically screaming and yowling to escape the fire.
They poured MORE gasoline when she was already completely covered in flame to make the fire bigger and cover her body more. She was immolated for TWENTY MINUTES
-They killed her puppies in front of her by impaling their eyes and skulls with metal poles and bludgeoned them to death
-They gouuged her eyes out with their bare hands
-They sliced her belly open with a knife until her intestines fell out
-They finally decapitated her.
All five of them are younger than 14 years old. The youngest is 11 supposedly. They all laughed gleefully. The ENTIRE time.
Wang Wang suffered EXTREME excruciating pain. Her last moments on Earth were unimaginable anguish and agony. The boys had brought cement and a spade along, perhaps intending bury Wang Wang and her pups in the sewer den, ALIVE.
They uploaded the video online themselves.
I understand that journalists and news outlets don't want to traumatise readers and therefore use softer language to describe such horrific incidents.
But this means that the perpetrators won't be adequately punished because people will be ignorant about the true nature of their crimes and downplay the terrifying severity and won't push for just punishment!
The level of sadistic psychopathy they display at such a young age (all under the age of 14 supposedly) should scare EVERYONE.
I am scared here in Australia. Are their own villagers not terrified of these tyrannical sadistic boys and if they'd be the next target??
We need justice for Wang Wang and to sequester these boys away for the rest of society's safety.

I genuinely don't understand the public outrage around ICE, and here's why:
The claims:
ICE is a violent organization
ICE is deporting "thousands" of legal U.S. citizens
ICE detention is inhumane
But the facts don't agree.
Since 2025, ICE has made over 328,000 arrests.
During those arrest attempts, two people were killed (a 0.0006% incident rating).
Tragic. Unfortunate. Unjust. I agree.
But that still means 99.9994% of ICE arrests occurred without a fatal incident.
In terms of "mistaken identity", documented reporting shows 170 U.S. citizens mistakenly detained.
Some argue that number is underreported, so let's be generous and double it to 340 just to appease the naysayers.
Even then, ICE got citizenship status right 99.9% of the time.
Next claim: "ICE detention is inhumane because people die in custody."
According to record, 32 people died while in ICE custody in 2025. At the same time, ICE held 60,000+ detainees.
That puts the odds of dying in ICE custody at roughly 1 in 1,000 to 1 in 2,000.
For comparison, the crude annual death rate of the general U.S. population is about 1 in 100.
Said differently: All things being equal (which they never are), your odds of survival in ICE custody are better than your odds of survival outside of ICE custody.
Nothing - not even the best science in the world - is 100% accurate.
So literally, in almost any other domain, an organization operating at 99.9%+ accuracy at this scale would be praised, not demonized.
(Ironically, that's exactly why the head of ICE was awarded during the Obama administration.)
Here's my point:
The facts don't justify the outrage, cruelty, and hatred folks are directing at friends, coworkers, and even their families.
What's actually happening is simpler, but more diabolical.
Media is playing our society for fools.
You're not reacting to facts. You're reacting to narratives.
Both sides are being gassed up by party leaders and political figureheads for THEIR gain.
Not yours.
Or Renee's.
Or Alex's.
Let that sink in.
So those feelings bubbling up...

Americans think they need $1.8 million to retire
Gen Z thinks they need $9 million
But the median retirement account for people in their 50s is $185,000
One of these groups is going to work until they die. And it's not the one you think.
A Charles Schwab study found that the average American believes they need $1.8 million saved to retire comfortably.
Meanwhile, people with $650,000 saved... 3.5 times more than the typical American their age... are convinced they can't retire yet.
They're sitting on more money than 90% of the country and they're terrified it's not enough.
The goalposts keep moving. Have $500,000? Suddenly you need $1.5 million. Have $1.5 million? Now you're convinced you need $3 million.
The number is never enough because the number isn't based on math. It's based on fear.
Here's the actual math:
Retirement isn't about some arbitrary balance. It's about income.
Let's say you need $60,000 per year to live comfortably. That's your number. Not $1.8 million. Not $3 million. $60,000 per year.
Now work backwards.
Social Security pays you $30,000 per year. That's already half covered. You don't need to generate that from your portfolio.
You need to generate $30,000 per year from your investments.
At a 4% withdrawal rate (the standard retirement math), you need $750,000.
Not $1.8 million. $750,000.
But wait. What if you have a pension that pays $15,000 per year?
Now you only need to generate $15,000 from your portfolio. At 4% withdrawal, that's $375,000.
See how this works?
The person with $375,000 and a pension can retire more confidently than the person with $800,000 and no plan.
Because retirement isn't about the biggest number. It's about matching your income needs.
Here's the part that really messes with people...
The 4% rule doesn't mean you run out of money in 25 years.
If you withdraw 4% per year and the market averages 10%, your portfolio keeps growing. You're only touching the gains. The principal stays intact.
You'll have MORE money at 80 than you did at 70. MORE at 90 than 80.
The longer you live, the richer you get.
But nobody explains this. So people work an extra 10 years "just to be safe." They call it "one more year syndrome."
Every banker I worked with had it. "Two more bonuses and I'm out." I heard it from 15 different people. None of them ever left.
The tragic part is they're wasting the best retirement years. The years when you're healthy. When you have energy. When you can actually do the things you've been dreaming about.
By 75, half that stuff is off the table.
So here's how you actually think about this:
1. Calculate your actual annual spending (not some random scary number)
2. Subtract Social Security and any pensions
3. Divide what's left by 0.04
4. That's your real number
For most people, it's dramatically lower than they think.
The people who retire confidently aren't luckier. They're not taking crazy risks. They've just done the income math instead of chasing some arbitrary balance.
SAVE THIS:
The retirement formula:
- Annual spending needed: $60,000
- Social Security: -$30,000
- Gap to fill: $30,000
- Divided by 4%: $750,000 needed
With a $15,000 pension:
- Gap to fill: $15,000
- Divided by 4%: $375,000 needed
The myths:
