As the son of Domincan immigrants raised in section 8 housing in Los Sures, I fiercely believe in the ability of government to raise up those with the least to a life of dignity and security. I know @claireforny will do that. Congratulations on your victory!
And to everyone that poured their hearts into this campaign, I am forever grateful. Thank you.

The race for the 30th Assembly District in Queens to replace Steven Raga is almost definitely gonna go for a recount. This is a CLOSE race and probably won't be decided for a bit
Claire Valdez blew Antonio Reynoso out of the water – cementing the influence of Mayor Mamdani and the Democratic Socialists of America. https://t.co/V8KC18OipA
Mayor Zohran Mamdani arrives at Darializa Avila Chevalier’s election night party to tout her victory over Rep. Espaillat.
“I just want to take a minute to appreciate this incredible campaign,” he says. “Everything that Dari and this campaign has won, they’ve earned.”
Rep. Nydia Velazquez tearfully spoke. "I know that tonight wasn't the result we wanted, but I couldn't be prouder of Antonio Reynoso." She noted that she's known him since he was about 20.
“Listen, we didn’t win the day this time, but none of our efforts were in vain,” Antonio Reynoso conceded gracefully to Claire Valdez in NY-7. “Every time we speak with a voter, we let another person know that a better tomorrow is possible, and that is invaluable work.”
"I want to say congratulations to Claire Valdez. This district has a long rich history, and we need to do everything we possibly can to continue to inform her and support her as she grows to be our representative and make sure that all of our voices are heard."
Darializa Avila Chevalier, a pro-Palestinian activist and self-described “millennial with an internet connection” has defeated Adriano Espaillat in NY-13 https://t.co/0cAxiyWX4F
Espaillat was asked if he had a message for Mayor Mamdani, whom Espaillat endorsed in the general election last year.
“He decided to endorse my opponent, I respect the mayor’s decision,” Espaillat told reporters. “I accept what happened tonight with elegance.”
"Tonight wasn't our night... But I love you anyway," Rep. Adriano Espaillat says supporters in his concession speech in Inwood. Calls it the "privilege of my life to serve you, the community, and I will continue to love and serve this community the best way that I can."
“While we came up short, we made a mark that won’t soon be forgotten,” Alex Bores says in concession speech.
He congratulates Micah Lasher, someone in the back of the room yells “no!” and Bores calls back “yes.”
Conrad Blackburn, the DSA-backed candidate for Assembly District 70, concedes the race to Assembly Member Jordan Wright.
“You all still came out to fight for a better life for your neighbors,” he says. “It is not easy to take power from capitalists.”
A certain local political publication boldly suggested she might be “the next AOC,” and sure enough, super-left insurgent candidate Darializa Avila Chevalier has managed to take down a five-term member of Congress. https://t.co/Cw9MT2XP27
The NY-7 race between Claire Valdez and Antonio Reynoso has been called for Valdez. People are being pretty quiet at Reynoso’s party — and the TVs have stopped showing the election and flipped to soccer. No one’s paid attention to the screens in 20 minutes.
