Best way to grow off season is to evaluate your strengths and weaknesses. Reassess your upside, goals (long and short term), self-analyse your areas of concern. Develop a plan to address your concerns in a methodical way that makes you a better athlete and person.
@CoachLisle A Coach that can recognize development is hard to find. They are out there and their ability to adapt to the level of competition is critical to every player, no matter what sport they Coach.
@CoachLisle Depends on the level. At some point every player will hit their ceiling. Kids may be great at 10-11 and as the play gets faster and better you see by their production they topped out at 12-13 years old. Come high school they are not producing and living on the hype of the past.
Understand your craft, know what it takes to make it your life, know what you bring to the table and bring it every day, every moment you are engaged in your craft. Dont just listen to the cheerleaders, also listen to the critics and ask why dont they see it. Believe and humble.
@CoachAntinetti All about the walk and the GRIND. Recognizing and reacting to both can be hard for some. Always good to lead by example. You do not need to be first to lead, but you need to know the expectations and goals. Never shortcut the GRIND.
Parents, know your athletes Coaches. Know their intentions and hold them to it. Agendas shouldn't be tolerated at any expense. Every athlete has a place on a team. If every athlete knows this, starting in any sport is not an issue. Communication and relationship building.
@benjaminbrink Parents should take an active role in the process. Showcases are all about the money. The trickle down of the money is rediculous. Lessons, personal Coaches, training, travel ball, etc.. Get your athletes perspective on what he wants to play, where and the educational goals.
The love of any sport should be reason enough for any professional athlete to share their talent and knowledge with others that have the desire to compete at any level.
Keeping it real inwardly with perspective and the Grind, outwardly with impression and character. Connect the two with your dream of yourself, keeping it real.
Learn your craft, understand the smallest details and expectations, expect a straight answer when you ask a question. Raise the bar daily with your goals. Grind every day.
