the answer “why do people do <counterproductive/stupid/evil thing>” is almost always “because it gets them some need met they haven’t figured out how to get met in a more productive/wholesome way yet” but people love to jump to the conclusion “because they’re intrinsically evil”
Anyway that’s why when I say misbehavior is communicating unmet needs I put misbehavior in “”. Cause sometimes what some of you adults think is misbehavior is just children looking for autonomy, having opinions, or being naturally curious
sometimes what some of you adults think is misbehavior is just children sensory seeking, sensory avoiding, executive dysfunction, communication issues, social confusion, rejection sensitivity dysphoria..etc
@MiriVinni you neglect to mention Koreans eat a potent feedstock (kimchi) with every meal, transforming their guts into the most formidable bioreactor on the planet.
@DivyaRainjana The fact that you can easily adapt might be a sign that you belong in more communities than the average person, sounds pretty nice to me
a snippet from a conversation with a friend that’s still ringing with me: when you’re young, say 14-22, it’s hard to properly imagine how your existing social reality is going to change. you may feel a sense of loyalty to your friends, such that the idea going out and seeking new friends can seem like a kind of betrayal.
In practice, hardly anybody even really puts words to these vague, subtle feelings. it’s only after years of drift and loss and grief that you (may) begin to loosen your subconscious grip on what you had held together as immutable about your reality. While painful, the destruction of this order creates the opportunity for something new. New imaginings, new possibilities, new ways of being, new ways to relate to people, new people to relate to.
Not many people really articulate this either, so a lot of people are living amidst layers of emotional debris… I’m drifting here though… what I really wanted to get to was, a sudden striking sense I got as to why “seek excellent peers” doesn’t always resonate all the way through for everyone. It’s at least partially because the idea of consciously seeking new peers seems mercenary to people. This perspective changes as one lives through change and witnesses the ebb and flow of all things.
Gently focusing on what you genuinely want, slowly reveals itself to be an earnestly loving way of being. Time and tide will tell.
all takes about the best friend’s boyfriend relationship are wrong. the best friend’s boyfriend is neither your enemy nor your prospect ; he is there to watch you and your best friend perform . every great act needs an audience & the bff’s boyfriend is the audience that must clap
The new badly built bridge from the indigenous community Kampung Sungai Kecau, Semenyih, Selangor was destroyed for the second time by the heavy rain last night. Now school students can not go to school. Other bridge is unsafe 😢 #IndigenousPeoples#ClimateCrisis
considering just accepting that during this nebulously-shaped part of my life, I'm going to have these periods of 1-2 weeks where I'm super motivated and excited, interspersed with periods of 2-3 days where I'm feeling completely lost and hopeless

Every woman I’ve ever talked to has been a bit embarrassed about who she dated when she was 19, like it was pretty much the lowest of her dating standards, so it’s rly funny to see grown men be proud of dating 19 year olds
