Our parent's generation got pension, which was inflation adjusted (Dearness Allowance).
They were habitual to LESS spending. And, MORE savings.
Our generation does not get a pension. The money saved is inflation prone (indexation benefits are being taken away from most investments now).
And, we are habitual to MORE spending. And, LESS savings.
Most people won't bother about learning the impact of all this when they are young. And, will truly get this point: once when they are retired.
