Kirby Smart says the transfer portal has made too many coaches forget what the word “coach” means

“That’s what the word ‘coach’ is. It derived from 'stagecoach'… Where you took somebody from one place to the other.”

“Where are you taking your players… Instead of shipping them off or importing them from elsewhere?”

Lot of good stuff said this post season about Rob Vaughn but at 2 minutes in - he says something I've been begging coaches in college to say - it's our fault sometimes too - if a kid doesn't do well, we are quick to move on. Appreciate finally hearing that from a college coach!

Player Development is deeply affected by Coach Development. Without the adults continually looking to get better, their ability to help their players reach their full potential will be limited.

Once we take on the role of “Coach” we need to be prepared to grow ourselves.
