💬 To all medical graduates — hang in there.
This year’s residency match season has been especially tough with certification delays, visa uncertainties, and shifting timelines.
Please remember — these challenges do not define your worth or potential. Programs recognize your resilience, dedication, and perseverance through it all.
Stay steady, keep showing up, and trust that your opportunity will come. 🌟

🎯 Residency interviews can make or break your match.
Here’s how to stand out for the right reasons:
✅ Show up with enthusiasm.
✅ Be prepared — know how the program fits your goals.
✅ Listen before you answer.
❌ Don’t interview the interviewer.
❌ Don’t ask about things the program doesn’t offer.
❌ Skip humor and politics.
Keep it professional, focused, and let your best self shine.
✨ Remember: every answer is a chance to show who you’ll be as a future resident.

🚨 A Humble Request to Residency & Fellowship Programs🙏🙏
Interviews have changed — virtual, in-person, hybrid — and are often SHORT, 10–15-30 minutes, yet every minute matters for applicants.
As a former associate program director of a residency program, I request that programs and interviewers give candidates the FULL time allocated.
Focused attention, active listening, and meaningful engagement aren’t just polite — they’re essential for fair evaluations.
Program leadership: Let’s continuously refine interview practices to ensure every applicant is seen, heard, and respected.

✨ CPFS and I wish all residency match applicants a very successful year! ✨
As you submit your applications and prepare for interviews, here are a few things to keep in mind:
🔹 Personal Statement – Review it thoroughly and be ready to answer questions about the details mentioned.
🔹 Meaningful Experiences – Reflect on the three you highlighted: why you chose them, the key characteristics they demonstrate, and how those experiences will shape you as a resident.
🔹 All Experiences – Revisit each one of the experiences to identify the lessons learned, and be prepared to elaborate on the sentences mentioned under each experience as well.
🔹 Research & Scholarly Work – Practice explaining your projects clearly and concisely, as if giving a brief abstract.
💡 Above all, be authentic, confident, and free-flowing in your conversations. Don’t overcomplicate the process—for yourself or for others.
🌟 Wishing you all the very best in this exciting journey ahead!

Language Matters!!
Communicating effectively with patients and caregivers is crucial in healthcare. It's essential to be mindful that what we convey clinically may not always be understood the same way by non-clinical individuals.
Understanding their perspective is key to building trust and fostering better relationships.
Recently came across an insightful article that I believe would benefit medical students, residents, and clinicians alike.
American Journal of Medicine.
