What people didn't understand when #Batwara1947 trailer released and are realising now... some might realise a bit later as well, is that this was never a commercial film.

One of the major reasons #SunnyDeol & Rajkumar Santoshi didn't get funding for it earlier was that audience won't be able to digest seeing Sunny breaking his Gadar image so hard....

It's understandable that artists want to break stereotypes and do what nobody expects them to do. But that comes with huge risk and not many have that risk taking appetite.

And that's why when #AamirKhan collaborated as producer (after Gadar 2), despite being a big producer, he decided to make it on a limited budget. Because clearly everybody knows that it's not the film you would see breaking records...

Batwara 1947 doesn't have anything for youth, doesn't suit the current geopolitical climate also and on top of everything Sunny is doing opposite of what hundreds of millions of people have celebrated him for. It won't be easy for them to accept that so quickly.

That's why it's stupid of people on X when they say Batwara 1947 will take big opening, masses will come etc.

I personally don't have any problem with the film. Apart from its TV serial like look, i don't think I really disliked anything about the trailer on personal level. In fact, I am looking forward to the movie.. but our personal emotions don't drive market.
