He tries to deal with the situation, the ball goes beyond him and it falls to Haaland.

Then VAR comes along, draws the line on Haaland and says goal.

Well done. You’ve proved the man who finished the move was onside. Now perhaps check why the ball reached him.

That’s the bit I don’t understand. If Enzo isn’t standing there, Martinez deals with the cross completely differently. So how can we say he hasn’t affected the play simply because he didn’t touch the football?

By that logic, just stand five yards offside in front of every defender. Don’t touch the ball. Make him deal with you, let it run through to somebody who’s onside and apparently you’ve done nothing.

That’s not football.

Sometimes VAR looks so closely at the final frame that they forget there was a football match happening before it.”

After Monaco discovered issues with Folarin Balogun's Everton medical, they called Chelsea to give the green light to Lamine Camara. Then during Lamine's Chelsea medical, Monaco got a call from Everton saying they would proceed with Balogun.

Monaco then called Chelsea and said, 'Sorry, Lamine Camara is no longer coming.' Chelsea were furious and tried to make it work. Until tonight they had a good relationship, and Chelsea were sure Monaco would not create a problem, but they decided to call it off.

The relationship between Chelsea and Monaco is COMPLETELY BROKEN! 💥

🚨 Joe Cole on Monaco cancelling Lamine Camara’s move to Chelsea:

“I’ve seen transfers collapse over medicals. I’ve seen players change their minds. I’ve seen clubs fail to agree a fee.

I’m not sure I’ve seen a club agree the fee in writing, send the player for his medical and then basically say, ‘Sorry lads, we’ve just sold somebody else. We don’t need your money anymore.’

That’s the part Chelsea will be furious about. They didn’t fail to meet Monaco’s valuation. They agreed €55m. The player was doing his medical. As far as Chelsea were concerned, they’d done their job.

Then Balogun goes to Everton and apparently Chelsea’s transfer disappears with him.

Football is a very small world. Today Chelsea need Lamine Camara from Monaco. Tomorrow Monaco might need a player from Chelsea.

And I’m not saying Chelsea should be unprofessional. Never. I’m just saying if Monaco call one day asking for one of our players, I hope somebody at Chelsea still has today’s emails.

Agree the fee. Let them book the flight. Let the player arrive in Monaco. Let him start the medical.
