I’ve 500+ points, 35+ refs

[l33t @muchl33t]

Nominate someone in the comments for @FomiesNFT access pass.

Who do you think the department should notice?

[gamblechad @manreuserious]

@muchl33t @FomiesNFT I don’t have many followers because my old account got banned, but I’m still very active and have been putting in the work. So does this mean that, because I have fewer followers, I simply can’t get access even with a high number of points?

[gamblechad @manreuserious]

@muchl33t @FomiesNFT Sir could u explain please

What was the point of introducing a referral and points system if people with a large following on X can get WL while having fewer points? How does this work?

[gamblechad @manreuserious]

1/10 Fomies @FomiesNFT

I went down a rabbit hole looking for the oldest mention of “Fomies” on the internet.

And I found something way older than the NFT.

Not 2026.
Not 2020.
Not even 2010.

The exact word “fomies” shows up in an RC forum in 2005. 🧵

So I started looking for the real origin.

Who coined FOMIES for the NFT?
Why this name?
Why these characters?
Why the giant eyes?
Why a Department of FOMO?
And why are there pickles?

Maybe there’s an older piece of the story we haven’t found yet.

I’m NOT saying the NFT team took the name from the 2005 forum or the band.

I found no evidence of that.

But the coincidence is pretty damn funny:

“foamies” → “Fomies”
“homies” → “Fomies”
“FOMO” → “Fomies”

And now thousands are waiting outside the Department.
