England were... seriously entertaining last night.
It's not often we've been able to say that at major tournaments, but I'm so pleased that's the way Tuchel has leaned, it maximises the key strength of the squad... an abundance of wide and central attacking talent.
How many England managers would swap Rice, Gordon and Madueke for Rogers, Rashford and Saka at 72 minutes with the score at 3-2?
And the build-up to the 4th goal that sealed it, justified it... there's a brilliant pass from James... Saka, Rogers and Spece link-up... before the ball finds itself at Rashford's feet...
And England have 5 players in a scoring position against 2 Croatians in the 85th minute, as Rashford confidently strokes it home.
England have done well at major tournaments, but I never really got the impression that other nation's really feared us to any great extent...
Last night, onlookers would have no doubt taken confidence from the 2 sloppy goals we conceded (1 stemming from a poor pass in midfield, the other from a lax press)...
But there aren't many nations who have created as many dangerous situations in round 1!

One 1 o’clock game on a Saturday afternoon in August is borderline criminal. And you wonder why MLB is so insistent on doing anything to change the game in the “interest” of attracting younger fans.
Huge news because I thought it's almost guaranteed that Vingegaard will ride the Worlds in Rwanda. He won't. Big disappointment, not gonna lie. 😪 The world's 2nd best climber not riding a world championships made for climbers... Jonas really hates one-day races, doesn't he?
