If this is even a real poll, the idea that 98% of that demographic holds this opinion is also pure fantasy. One thing they have most certainly failed to achieve, regrettably, is popularity among the majority, not by a long shot. And the reality is that, when the time comes, Pakistan will desperately need a clean break from the same old script.

Officer Daniel Hayes hadn’t slept more than a few hours in the last five days. Every time he closed his eyes he saw the same thing: Bear lunging between him and the suspect’s car, the dull crack of impact, and then the terrible stillness that followed.
Bear had been his partner for six years—through foot pursuits, drug busts, school visits, and the long quiet nights on patrol when the only sound was the dog’s steady breathing in the back of the cruiser. The German Shepherd wasn’t just a tool; he was the one soul who had never once looked at Daniel and asked him to be anything other than exactly who he was.
Now Bear was standing on the exam table on his hind legs, front paws locked around Daniel’s shoulders, head buried against the side of his neck. The dog’s tail thumped a slow, heavy rhythm against the stainless steel. He was thinner. There was a shaved patch on his ribs and a line of neat stitches Daniel tried not to look at too closely. But he was warm. He was here. He was *Bear*.
“Hey, buddy,” Daniel managed, voice cracking. “You had me worried.”
Bear answered with a low, rumbling whine and a wet swipe of tongue across Daniel’s jaw. The officer’s hands moved over the dog’s back, careful of the bandages, memorizing the feel of him again—the thick fur, the solid muscle, the way one ear was always slightly crooked.
From the doorway, the vet tech held up her phone, smiling through tears she didn’t bother hiding. She’d watched this man sit on the floor outside the recovery kennel every night, talking to his unconscious dog through the glass like the words alone could pull him back.
“You’re my good boy,” Daniel whispered. “Yes, you are. I love you so much.”
Bear leaned harder into him, as if he understood the weight of those words and was trying to take some of it. Daniel pressed his face into the dog’s shoulder and let himself breathe for the first time in days.
“We’re gonna get you home soon,” he promised, the words thick. “No more of this place. Just your bed, your ball, and me yelling at you for stealing my sandwich. Deal?”
Bear’s tail thumped once, twice. Outside the room, the clinic continued its ordinary business. Inside, a man and his dog held on to each other like the rest of the world could wait.
And for a little while, it did.

Unfortunately, fraud in overseas admissions services is all too common in Pakistan.
In my op-ed today I suggest some things students aspiring to study overseas can do and avoid to reduce their chances of falling prey to scammers.

This is clearly unsettling for anyone who is British Pakistani, British Muslim British Nigerian, Black or Brown.
But to also suggest beheading King Charles shows a level of hatred and xenophobia that will shock those who connect patriotism and their Britishness with Reform
In Italy, a heartbroken dog whose owner died two months ago has been going to the church where the funeral ceremony took place all this time.
The owner of a German shepherd named Tommy was 57-year-old Maria Margarita Loci, according to The Daily Mail.
After Maria found the little dog in the field, he became her best friend for the next 7 years. Due to the fact that the woman did not have close friends, she asked the priest for permission to go to church with Tommy.
After the death of his mistress, the dog immediately runs to the church as soon as he hears the bells announcing the beginning of the service. According to witnesses, the dog is still waiting for Mary to return from the church with him.
"He still comes to Mass even after Mary's funeral. He patiently waits next to the altar and just sits there quietly. None of the parishioners ever complained about the presence of Tommy," said priest Donato Panna.
We got a call about a dog in desperate need of our help.
Probably one of the worst cases I’ve ever seen and that’s saying a lot.
We moved mountains to get him. Hopefully we can turn his life around… (1/8) 🧵
Stuff I watched this weekend that I was recommended and that I can recommend in turn:

Mountainhead (HBO max)
I made myself aloo paratha today and look at how beautifully it inflated. This to me is the ultimate validation of my aloo paratha making skills because it indicates how well I kneaded the dough and how evenly it cooked ☺️
This tiny chihuahua was dumped in the jungle alone with one eye.
We think she was so sick her owner just left her to die. Luckily we got a call to come and get her.
It’s 50/50 if she’ll survive but we are hopeful (1/6) 🧵
@cyalm Pakistan doesn't produce winners. It produces survivors who briefly stand where the losers fell.
And in most places, a victory is earned by being better. Here, it's usually collected by being less bad.
Post lower body strength training:
Found fresh figs and made myself a cream cheese, fig, walnut, honey toast.
In case you didn’t know figs that we eat contain the remains of at least one fig wasp. I wonder how much of that crunch is because of that wasp 😬
