Two weeks into surgical recovery and the combo of being sedentary + treatment buildup without being able to sweat it out well is affecting my physical and mental health.
I wrote this piece before my most recent diagnosis, ironically: https://t.co/lTlgN6UPGO
Now I have to listen to my own advice as I ramp back up.
Also, I love promoting the partnership I have with @manta_cares - it's a company created and run by cancer patients.
The secondary resource work for cancer patients is a tough one to navigate; there's a lot of grifty stuff going on, a lot of fluff, and a lot of... confusion being served up as advice.
Their goal is one that mimics mine - to try and distill the experience from the patient's perspective so that current and future patients get information that actually helps in a humanistic sense.
Move your body as much as it will let you. I'm trying to redefine 'let' right now 😂

Sunday Scaries before surgery tomorrow.
Are cancer patients always tough & brave?
How can we make the convo more meaningful?
I'm not sure I have all the answers, but I conveyed my feelings while doing treatment as a gesture of bravado 😂🤷🏻♂️

@TheCancerSutra You are the best, Mike! Grateful our paths have crossed, but wish it was on a non-cancer path doing something super fun. But we take what we can get, I suppose! ❤️
A funny thing happened on the way to my latest recurrence:
I was ramping up my own personal content, non-profit, and advocacy, but then, ya know... cancer! Some things have been put on hold a bit, while I've been able to continue others.
One of the ones I'm most proud of is partnering with @manta_cares to produce written and video content about being a cancer patient.
(Latest here: https://t.co/siiGPP285V)
I'm mostly focusing on mental health and physical fitness, but they're a rapidly growing organization, and they've been wonderful to me in allowing me the opportunity to cover pretty much whatever I want as I've had to readjust to being a patient in treatment once again.
My first set of blogs for them has gone up - and while I'm pretty sure this platform doesn't like posting outside links, I'm going to periodically do so and/or put them in my profile.
Ironically, my first set of blog posts were about how to prep your body for treatment or workouts during treatment.
These were determined before my recurrence. Clairvoyance isn't always positive.
Regardless, I just thought I'd give them (and me) a shout. They are mostly focusing on breast cancer patients to begin with, but expanding out their scope and comprehensive patient approach with each passing day.
Fun twist to a shitty adventure! ✌🏻❤️

"As a radiation oncologist... I mean I'm basically aiming invisible light into people to kill cancer cells that may or may not be there. I mean it seems like very woo woo.
It seems like magic, right?"
