@thegoldenmuzzy I’m wondering if this is connected to the hiring of Gillis as POHO. Maybe Gillis is far down the path of being hired by Pelley. During his multiple meetings, tells Pelley “If I come on as POHO I would like to hire Sundin as an AGM.”. So that is why they’re talking to Sundin now.

@joshuakloke Josh, correct me if I’m wrong, but even if Leafs finish at 5th last, there’s no guarantee they get to keep their pick. Draft lottery could move another team up into top 5 and thus bump Leafs to 6th or lower pick and have to give pick to Boston.

@JoshuaHowsam I agree and think an AAV of $ 35-40 for a 1B is reasonable, considering inflation over life of contract. So 13 x $ 37.5 = $ 487.5M That would beat Ohtani’s contract (not including deferrals) and be second biggest contract to Soto’s

@KeeganMatheson @Atkins2Alcatraz Keegan, do other GMs pay attention when Ross says this? I wonder if Ross singling out Roden could be to send a message to other GMs that Jays have an OF they like and maybe don’t need the guy other GMs are offering him.

@_NickRichard Totally agree and address two needs in one deal. I’ve long liked Murphy’s game and he’d improve D depth. Donato is a pending UFA but if he pans out as 3C this year, maybe he could be resigned for next year. Gotta try to offload Kampf if possible.

Thinking about this: Would a straight up Bo Bichette for Luis Arraez trade be a good one for Jays? Gimenez could shirt to SS. Arraez to 2nd and could be Jays lead off hitter.

@ScottyMitchTSN From what I saw last season, I think Barger, Wagner and especially Jimenez have a good future in MLB, perhaps with Jays. Barger could become a good 3B (perhaps in a platoon) and Jimenez at 2B with Jays (Giménez would become SS after Bo leaves). Otherwise good trade chips

@ScottyMitchTSN How could you see Jays using their IF surplus (Jimenez, Wagner, Clement, Schneider) in a trade for an upgrade at 3B, LF, SP, RP? Any targets who you could use any of the surplus to get?
