✊ Three days learning, sharing and building our future in Sofia!
The ETF Youth Winter School gathered over 25 young transport workers from across Europe to discuss the future of the transport sector and their role in shaping it. Through engaging debates and training sessions, participants focused on trade union renewal, the fight against the far right, and embracing the diversity of the workforce, among other important topics.
💪 They shared ideas on how to strengthen unions, build inclusive workplaces, and stand united against forces that threaten workers' rights and democracy.
📢 By equipping young transport workers with knowledge and tools, we are paving the way for a stronger, more inclusive labour movement. Together, we’re ensuring that transport workers’ voices are heard - loud and clear!

📢 Stronger EWCs, Better Workplaces, Competitive Europe!
At the ETF Youth Winter School, young transport workers from across Europe are standing united with @etuc_ces, other Trade Union Federations, and over 45 million workers to call on the European Parliament (@Europarl_EN):
👉 Support the trilogue mandate for the Radtke report on revising the European Works Councils Directive.
This revision is crucial to ensure workers’ rights are effective and enforceable. The Employment Committee’s endorsement must not be derailed by the far-right “Patriots for Europe.”
Adopting the mandate will send a clear message: workers' voices matter, and their rights will be upheld in shaping Europe’s future.

🚀 The ETF Youth Winter School is underway!
For the next three days, young transport workers from across Europe are gathering in Sofia, Bulgaria, to learn, share, and grow together.

🌍 39 million people live with #HIV worldwide, and 40+ million have lost their lives. Yet stigma, discrimination, and inequality persist.
👐Let's commit to raising awareness, ending stigma, and supporting efforts to stop new transmissions. Together, we can create a future without HIV.

🟣En el Día Internacional de la Eliminación de la Violencia contra la Mujer:
Seguimos reafirmando nuestro compromiso con la igualdad y trabajando por una sociedad libre de violencia en todos los sectores, también en el transporte 🚛 💪
#25N
Today is the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against #Women. We call for action: workplace violence, especially in transport, must end. Harassment is a crime—no one should face it.
📷Video statement from Sara Tripodi, chair of the ETF Women's Committee
If we commit to our demand for more women in transport, violence can not be “part of the job.”
We need:
👉Clear definitions of workplace violence (incl. cyberviolence)
👉Stronger victim protections
👉Accountability for all perpetrators

🚨 Today is UN World Toilet Day!
🚽 Did you know that thousands of transport workers in Europe still don’t have access to clean, safe toilets during their working day? This isn’t just about comfort—it’s a serious issue of health, safety, and dignity.

#AgressieSpoortNiet went to Brussels 💛💙
On behalf of @FNVSpoor I was invited by @BelfiSilvana to speech about my march at the Women's committee of @ETF_Europe
It was an honor and as a result of my speech, it will continue even further into Europe 💛💙

💶Today is European #EqualPayDay
⚖️The gender pay gap in the transport sector remains. This must change!
✊As businesses push back against transparency measures to cut pay inequality, unions must play an important role to put in place regulation.
English below;
On my way to Brussels, to talk to the Womans Committe of the @ETF_Europe about #AgressieSpoortNiet (#AgressionDerails). Among others, 2 European Parliament representatives will be there. I'm nervous but exciting at the same time. Holding a speech in English will be a first for me. But that's gonna be ok!
📢#Solidarity with Italian unions: they are having their third national strike today to renew the national collective agreement in public transports which expired last year.
The political debate must take allocation of resources for urban public transport serious and fight chronic underfunding!
♀️#Women workers in the transport sector have a right to a workplace free from violence and harassment. This is a fundamental right, but not the reality for many women.
At yesterday's ETF women's committee meeting we discussed:
➡️The need for a new directive on violence against women in the labour world
➡️Cyber violence and it's place on the @EU_Commission's agenda
➡️Unions role in the fight against motherhood penalty
#Solidarity with the victims of the floods in several regions of Spain, especially the Comunitat Valenciana👐
🇪🇸We support the actions of our Spanish unions and thank all transport workers for their valuable help and contribution.
👷📈Social dumping - one of the biggest problems facing the transport sector: ETF president @frankmoreelsETF on why Europe needs more inspectors for cross border transport, rather than closed borders to ensure fair working conditions and protection for all workers within the EU, no matter their origin:

#Recap from this week's debate in the European Parliament on the need to strengthen the railway sector in Europe:
✅We welcome that such a vital sector is getting the political spotlight it deserves, but..
🛑..the @EU_Commission statements during the debate show that they still don’t understand the real problems facing Europe’s railways. Commissioner @dreynders failed to mention #railway workers and insisted that #liberalisation improved passenger and freight numbers, contradicting data showing that railway use has stagnated across Europe.
Today is World Day for Decent Work. Today and every day, we call on European decision-makers to invest in quality jobs for every worker!
Quality jobs should not be a luxury - we need them for a fair and sustainable society.
#WDDW#DecentWork@wddw
So what do we learn from this exchange?
👷We need to bring people together.
Logistics companies want to individualize work relations - we have to bring them back to the collective sphere and occupy space!💪
📸Closing remarks from ETF General Secretary @livia_spera
👷♂️#Conference: #Logistics and e-commerce in Europe - a worker’s perspective
🚨Logistics is a crucial and growing sector for transport workers - but it is also the sector where giant companies are dominating the field.
🔽Poor working conditions, anti-union pressure and exploitation are very common in the sector - that has to change.
💪We are gathering today to occupy space and give a voice to workers!
🚨Stop violence against transport workers!
♀️We need better working conditions and data on violence and harassment to increase the share of women workers in transport.
🤝This week, we met the women’s committee of ETF in #Antalya and were hosted by @liman_is
