Thiago Alcântara retired from the game of football this summer. This thread is a tribute to a player, who I thoroughly enjoyed watching every single time. The way he played the game made me realise how I want to feel and express myself in all walks of life.

🔵INDIVIDUAL MOVEMENT🔵
Fabian Ruiz gave a midfield masterclass during the recent Euros.
Every time I watched him, I was hypnotised by his movement off the ball.
Let’s look at 5 examples from his game vs Croatia🧵
Giorgio Chiellini: “It takes me back, seeing the English so enthusiastic and happy, remembering how quickly their mood can change."

This guy is a villain 😭😂😂
📌 Understanding Rotations & Movements:
Conclusions:
- Vertical movement is bad, creates difficult angles and attracts pressure ❌
- Diagonal movement/rotation is good. It confuses defences by occupying a high volume of defenders and spans more zones✅
