When you get a call to talk to the legendary Singeetham Srinivasa Rao, you just cancel everything and show up. At 94, this director is coming up with a Telugu film -- SING GEETHAM -- where all the lines are sung.
The latter part of the interview has Nag Ashwin @nagashwin7, who basically worked as an AD on this movie in between the two KALKI films. @VyjayanthiFilms

Oracle fired 12,000 of its Indian workforce and is expected to sack more.
Another reminder of how fragile stability is in the private sector. One secures employment, income begins to flow, long-term plans take shape, home, car, loans, EMIs. And then, a single decision by the corporate to “rationalize” or “downsize,” and everything collapses overnight.
Unless you quickly re-enter the job market, fixed liabilities don’t pause; they compound stress and can upend an otherwise steady life.
While you earn, you must pay taxes. The moment you lose your job, you’re on your own. In fact, you even have to pay tax on the severance also.
Maybe it’s time to introduce reforms, such as mandating severance pay ranging from three months to one year based on an employee’s tenure, as is the norm in the West; allowing EMI pauses for a 3-6 months; and providing a time-bound monthly allowance from the govt for involuntary job losses.
If Ladla/Ladlis can get free money, free ration, free water, and electricity, without paying any income tax, why not support a worker who has been paying taxes and contributing?
Neurologist reveals why ‘normal’ sugar levels can be a misleading sign: ‘Least sensitive test for early diabetes…’
While fasting blood sugar level is commonly checked to detect diabetes, it does not provide the most accurate reading, shares Dr Sudhir Kumar.

The "Cholesterol Myth" just got a reality check
We have been obsessed with "clogged pipes" (LDL-C) for decades.
But a massive new study of 40k+ patients just confirmed: The "Fire" (Inflammation) is more dangerous than the "Gunk." 🧵
New research data shows why your "normal" cholesterol might be lying to you.
My man said something to me that really stuck.
He told me, “I’m not here to control you. I’m not your dad, I’m your partner. You’re free to make your own choices. Just understand that every choice has consequences. If you choose something that damages what we’ve built, that’s on you.”
He said, “I’ll always tell you when something hurts me or crosses a boundary, because that’s what healthy communication looks like. But if you keep stepping over the line after I’ve shown you where it is, then you were never really protecting us to begin with.”
And honestly, that’s what accountability in a relationship sounds like.
This "technology" was available in Bihar 20 years ago.
A 12th class pass man was a salesman at a chemist shop at Bokaro (in Bihar then, now Jharkhand). Any person (of any age or gender) could walk up to his pharmacy, tell his/her symptoms, and he would be ready with medicine advice in 60 seconds. If the patient needed an injection, he would himself give the injection too.
His "medical" advice was free; he charged Rs 10 per injection and only charged for the medicines (that patients had to buy from his shop).
Now, don't ask me- what happened to these patients later.
On a serios note-
History (patient's complaints) is only one part of diagnosis. Clinical examination, and appropriate tests (as needed) are vital for diagnosis. This is not possible remotely. As of now, AI can aid, but can not replace real doctor-patient encounter.

In 2010 I had to have urgent surgery to remove my gall bladder.
I had severe GI issues - post surgery IBS - for 6 months after surgery. Lost 13 KG weight.
The doctor who did the surgery - Dr MG Bhat of Manipal Hospital Bangalore - refused to even see me for one post op consultation. Apparently he is a surgical machine - sees patients once, does the surgery and Fs off.
For a month after surgery I had to meet his shady assistant/junior who was least interested in even listening to my troubles.
Other GI specialists in the city refused to look at my case since I am a 'post-op complication' and it's the responsibility of the surgeon concerned.
Anyway a senior GP was referred by a friend after a nightmare 3 months. She took pains to diagnose and devised a method to settle down my GI issues over a further 3 months.
Since then I advise everyone to avoid such 'surgical machines'. They might be great 90pc of the time but they don't have time to handle the 10pc where things don't go according to plan.
Stop treating Iron like a "General Tonic." It is a Medicine.
Feeling tired? Most people’s first instinct is to grab an iron supplement. But taking iron without a blood test is like adding fuel to a fire without checking if the engine is actually empty.
The Golden Rules of Iron Absorption:
If you actually need iron, how you take it determines if it works or just gives you a stomach ache.
✅ The Empty Stomach Advantage: Iron is best absorbed when your stomach is empty.
✅ The Vitamin C Hack: Take your pill with a glass of orange juice or a citrus fruit. Vitamin C creates an acidic environment that "unlocks" iron for your body.
❌ The Blockers: Never take iron with Tea, Coffee, Milk, or Calcium supplements. These act like a "lock" on your gut, preventing the iron from ever entering your bloodstream.
The "Blind Supplementation" Trap:
Can you take it without a blood test? Strictly no.
(Exceptions: Pregnancy or specific public health programs for adolescent girls).
Why "Blind" Iron is Dangerous:
Iron is not like Vitamin C; your body has no easy way to get rid of the excess.
🔸Organ Damage: Excess iron (overload) deposits in your liver, heart, and pancreas, leading to permanent scarring.
🔸Feeding the Enemy: Many bacteria thrive on iron. Taking it unnecessarily can actually worsen certain infections.
🔸The Thalassemia Risk: In conditions like Thalassemia, your body already has iron issues. Adding more is toxic.
🔸Oxidative Stress: Excess iron acts as a "pro-oxidant," causing cellular rust (oxidative stress) throughout your body.
📌 The Takeaway:
Iron is a potent drug, not a multivitamin.
Step 1: Get a Serum Ferritin/Iron profile.
Step 2: Consult a doctor.
Step 3: Optimize absorption, don't just increase the dose.
Dr Sudhir Kumar @hyderabaddoctor
The "Every Other Day" Iron Hack: Why skipping a day helps you recover faster.
If you are taking iron supplements daily, you might be fighting against your own biology.
The Science of the "Hepcidin Spike":
Hepcidin is your body’s master regulator of iron. Its job is to "lock the door" to your bloodstream when it thinks you’ve had enough.
The Dose: You take an iron pill.
The Spike: Your liver detects the influx and spikes Hepcidin.
The Blockade: Hepcidin stays high for 24–48 hours, blocking any new iron from being absorbed.
The Problem with Daily Dosing:
If you take iron every morning, you are trying to push the second dose through a door that the first dose already locked.
The Result?
❌ Poor Absorption: You only absorb a fraction of the second pill.
❌ Stomach Distress: The unabsorbed iron sits in your gut, causing nausea, constipation, and pain.
✅The Strategy: Alternate-Day Dosing
Clinical trials (including those in The Lancet) show that taking iron every other day (e.g., Mon-Wed-Fri) is the "Sweet Spot."
✅ Higher Efficiency: Your Hepcidin levels drop, allowing the next dose to be absorbed fully.
✅ Fewer Side Effects: Less "junk" iron left in your gut means a much happier stomach.
✅ Better Results: You raise your iron levels just as fast (or faster) with half the discomfort.
📌 The Takeaway:
More isn’t always better. Sometimes, the secret to better health is giving your body time to "unlock the door."

Okay so I've read up on this whole rejection concept and I'm sharing what I've learnt. Women (and in some cases men too) need to learn the following:
1. Harm is never impulsive.
Watch out for warning signs - aggression over little things, demands for explanation, constant pressure to do what they want you to do for them.
2. Draw boundaries early on, be assertive.
3. Do not mistake obsession for love. It is a means of control. "Share your live location, who is with you, whom were you talking to on the phone, who is in your contact list etc." - ALL RED FLAGS
4. "You are mine, I own you, nobody else has a right to see or talk to you." - This is toxic possessiveness. RED FLAG.
5. Reject firmly, without over explaining yourself, and document it. (messages, emails, screenshots).
DO NOT think of softening the blow. That gives them hope, they'll never think "oh she/he is letting me down softly". They will almost always think, "she/he still likes me" Ambiguous refusals fuel pursuits.
6. Cut access and stay firm. Stop the block-unblock game. It's over. Move on. Do not give them hope. It can be dangerous.
7. Consider your surroundings before refusing. If you're alone, don't take the risk. Always have someone around. If you did reject them in private, immediately inform at least one or two close ones.
8. This is specifically for women - we have phenomenal gut instincts so if something feels off, trust your instincts. Act on them. DO NOT wait for it to get to a point of no return.
Visibility.
A sense of being “seen”.
Let’s face it- the vast majority of people are unremarkable : in looks, talent, achievements or anything else.
They can’t do something the next guy can’t. Some WILL do what the next guy won’t.
What they lack in ability, they make up for it in willingness - to do dangerous stuff. Shock value replaces aesthetics. And shock value is rewarded by algorithms and people like us who share it.
Chapri behaviour is a cry for visibility and acceptance.
Our attention is their oxygen and “trophic factor”, if I have to use a medical term. Cut off the fuel and the fire snuffs itself out.
Honourable Prime Minister Shri @narendramodi Ji,
Thank you very much for your kind wishes and words of motivation on my induction into Kenjutsu. For me, martial arts has always been about discipline, balance and the harmony of mind, body and soul.
Sir, you have always inspired the citizens, especially youth, through your leadership. Through initiatives such as Pariksha pe Charcha, Khelo India and Fit India, you are guiding our youngsters to become healthier, stronger and more confident and thereby shaping the future of Bharat.
Your words have added a new sense of responsibility to my journey. I will strive even harder to serve our Bharat and inspire the younger generation to live with discipline, honour our heritage, and work fearlessly for the nation. Thank you for your constant warmth and inspiration.
