She was living through absolute hell that year — relentless paparazzi harassment, a public mental health crisis, postpartum depression, grieving her aunt’s passing, and a brutal custody battle over her babies — and Sarah Silverman and MTV’s brilliant idea was to turn her pain into a punchline and humiliate her for entertainment.

They didn’t see a young woman struggling. They saw engagement, money and entertainment. They saw a target. And the world laughed.

Looking back, it’s honestly disgusting how normalized that cruelty towards Britney was. The whole thing aged like fucking MILK. She deserved compassion, not humiliation. 💔 Imagine going through all of this and still delivering an iconic performance. 👑 #JusticeForBritney #YoureUgly
