Recently, the world came to know the heartbreaking story of 15-year-old Liv Perrotto. But behind that story is Mao Mao, Liv’s favourite cat.
As Liv’s mother shared, Mao Mao still wanders through their home as if she is searching for her. You can see it in her face. The confusion, the sadness, the loyalty of a companion who still waits for the person she loved most to walk back through the door.
Mao Mao was more than just a pet to Liv. She was family. She was there for the quiet moments, the hard days, and the happiest ones. From the day Liv named her, Mao Mao became her cat, and everyone around them knew it.
We created $MAOMAO so that Mao Mao’s memory, her loyalty, and Liv’s love for her can live on forever. Not as something temporary, but as a community built around remembrance, compassion, and the bond between a girl and her cat.
For everyone who has ever loved a pet, lost someone, or knows what it means to miss somebody who never should have been taken too soon, Mao Mao is for you.
Let Mao Mao’s loyalty live forever.

Welcome to our family sweet girl! This will be the most loved kitty on earth! ❤️
Help us name her!
Our 2 year old kitty is Mao Mao.
What should her sister’s name be?We are leaning toward Yuki. Which means snow and happiness or good fortune in Japanese. Seems fitting?!

Last Tuesday night was Liv’s final one with us, a mix of heartbreak and uncertainty that I’ll carry forever. She was wrapped in love, but what touched me deepest were her cats, Mao Mao and Yuki; they never once left her room, staying curled up on the couch right beside her bed. It’s as if they sensed it all, knowing the goodbye was coming before we did. I think animals possess that kind of profound intuition we humans can only admire.
Even in those last hours, Liv was still with us, communicating clearly until just an hour or two before she passed. She looked at me and asked if I thought her friends and pets would join her in heaven. I held her hand and promised that yes, I believed God would bring them all to her side. Rest easy, my sweet Liv.
I miss you. 💔
