@scbadger Surprised you haven’t mentioned the number of teams struggling to get sides out. Approx 6 teams will have their records expunged if they concede another match. A worrying trend and perhaps time the league to look at 12 team divisions at the bottom end playing each other once.
@andy23culver @SussexCricketLg No way! What about junior matches on Saturday mornings?. Current start times is perfectly acceptable. Early starts only for agreed events
@scbadger Depends on the make of your side and if it’s perceived by your club and league dangerous for young players playing up higher up the divisions.
@DavidHorne@Roger89835988 Very disappointing news - missed opportunity by the Council. Are you able to appeal to the Planning Inspectorate ? Hopefully you have time to submit a new application (with amendments) with help from Railway Heritage in time for the anniversary.
@scbadger The reality is the players are unfortunately not good enough. Bringing in an overseas player for 3 games says everything. To be fair to Farbrace you can’t change things around overnight. Will take a couple of seasons.
@CrawleyDownCC@scbadger Great to see a youngster doing so well. Will soon be contacted by a premier division side and promised 1st XI cricket and end up playing for the 2nd XI
@Si__Locke @scbadger@DaveSimmonds77 Premier Leagues in midlands have maximum of 5 teams in the league. Also need to accept that clubs rely heavily on a few individuals running their juniors etc. if they move on or retire it’s not easy to replace them. unfortunately in many cases takes clubs many years to recover.
@chrisbrady1981@scbadger Can’t believe the league will let this go. What’s the point of having a league rule ? If it’s already happened before the league should have informed the clubs.
@scbadger Cricket needs to move with the times. Covid ‘bounce’ is over with more family oriented events at weekends. Divisions need to be reviewed throughout with considerations to playing teams only once at the lower end to enable shorter season to counter football season. Max 13 games.
@01Wickers@LCC_swans Agree. Unfortunately MSDC like to implement more processes than the Brexit agreement so will probably need Boris to break these to implement.
@MJBurroughs77@sxcricketchair@scbadger structure is already based on Invitation, Mid Sussex and East Sussex leagues. Perhaps reduce the number of games played at the lower end, play teams once during a season. Max 12 games. Combine Divisions 3&4 with regional below with teams only playing each team once.
@sxcricketchair@scbadger It’s a Countrywide problem, not just sussex. ((. Needs to be a review which includes Junior cricket. Nothing should be off the table. Don’t delude ourselves, covid gave cricket a boost but we are now back to reality. Things will get worse with holidays, football early August!
