The idea “every aspect of the support for disabled people” must “help people get into work” is deeply grim from Labour. Benefits and the NHS don’t exist to turn disabled people into economic productively units. They are to help us live well. https://t.co/qrgEsAlGHv
I know this is nothing new, but I just checked my student loan and it's just comically absurd - I've been charged 3x as much interest as I've paid off so far this year; my total loan is almost £10k bigger than when I left university. Completely futile @SF_England
Today in a side room in parliament the government pushed ahead with policy to increase the number of, and role of, Physician Associates
PAs are not doctors, nor GPs, and yet they are being phased in as doctor substitutes and GP substitutes - read that again
This will create a two tier system of health service, those seen by qualified doctors and GPs, and those seen by PAs
We desperately need more doctors and GPs, but instead of training and hiring them (Brexit has made it difficult to bring more in), this Conservative government is watering down the quality of service being offered by the NHS
In 2010 the Conservatives inherited the NHS as one of the world's best health services. Since then they have underfunded the NHS, outsourced so we pay more for the same service, and now they're watering down the quality of staff.
Shame on anyone who still votes for the Conservative party, because they are destroying our NHS
Many shielders said this at the time. It was v telling that clinically vulnerable people - the very group most affected by covid and isolation - weren’t allowed to enjoy a cheap takeaway from home under EOTHO. That would have exposed the big lie: it wasn’t really safe to eat out.
New report from Oxfam out today. The richest 1% account for more carbon emissions than the poorest two thirds of humanity combined. Climate change is class war. https://t.co/eX3xuTncmN
In less than 2 minutes, the representative for the State of Palestine at the UN, eviscerates the entire myth of Western "civilization" under the US Military Industrial Complex. This should be mandatory viewing in schools and universities throughout the Western world, if we do want to learn about upholding human rights, before we even begin to preach them to others.
Every person killed in Gaza has a name, a face and a story.
I voted for a ceasefire to put a stop to this endless loss of precious life.
It is a disgrace that so many MPs ignored the voices of Palestinians imploring them to do the same.
This is brilliant. And I’m genuinely puzzled why the BBC, Sky & others can’t have robust conversation and guests like this. It’s so informative too.
PSA for any clinically vulnerable person who’s been made to feel “crazy” or “high maintenance” for asking people to test for covid. My plumber kindly took an LFT before my appt - with no symptoms - and was positive twice. LFTs save lives. Don’t let any troll make you doubt it.
With every passing minute, another human being in Gaza is killed.
Why did the Prime Minister instruct our representatives at the UN not to support a ceasefire?
Today, The Guardian’s front page reports 1 million children in the U.K. are now living in destitution. Meanwhile, the right wing press and politicians rail against the injustice of…private school kids’ parents paying VAT. It would be funny if it wasn’t so disgusting.
I condemn all violence and will not stand by while Palestinian and Israeli civilians pay the price for political failure. Please sign Oxfam's petition and make your voice heard. https://t.co/msEPTOcz5h
I love it when Tories say this, as if people on sickness benefits are out of work because they just didn’t realise they’d earn more in a job. “It would be better if I didn’t have Parkinson’s and could be a surgeon, you say? Genius! Thank goodness you’re here.”
Thank you for all your kind messages of support today. I've also written this for the @guardian about the need for Martha's Rule and why patients need more power in hospitals. https://t.co/hyZWqU6566
