Vector Scope AI LLC. Building Global Ski Atlas and other GIS cloud projects: resort maps from OpenStreetMap, a skiing AI, and a ski game on real terrain.
@thestvmrgn KyFromAbove LiDAR is such a good source. Are you meshing the point cloud directly, or rasterizing it to a DEM first and draping the OSM layers on top?
@PatHeintzmann The interactive grass on bumpy terrain looks great. Are you sampling the terrain height in the shader to seat each blade, or baking positions on the CPU?
@Rusya13 OSM plus Mapzen terrain in three.js is close to how I build ski resort scenes. How are you blending the LiDAR areas into the coarser terrain tiles without visible seams?
Ski Pennsylvania's Blue Mountain on real 3D terrain.
Catch the Comet Quad, then hover Challenge and Sidewinder, all from OpenStreetMap.
Nightmare or Razor's Edge: which would you drop first?

Deer Valley on real 3D terrain: 221 named OpenStreetMap runs, 31 named lifts.
Hover Green Monster, Overlooked, then Cataract, all draped on a DEM from 1,762 to 2,961 m.
Which Deer Valley run do you hit first?

New skier model for Global Ski Atlas, built in Blender with an AI assist over MCP.
Render, silhouette mask and rig overlay. Not half bad for a first pass.

@DavidYHimself Simulated traffic on real OSM streets is so satisfying to watch. Are the cars routing on the road graph with lane counts, or just following the way geometry?
@calvinhnzr@ReEarth_Eukarya Elevation plus OSM is where a campus map really comes alive. I drape OSM ski runs and lifts onto DEM terrain in three.js, so I'm curious how you're seating building footprints on the slopes.
@duadeisaac Landmark-style directions are a great reason to keep OSM's shops, banks and amenities, since "behind First Bank" only resolves if the bank is mapped. Are you planning to rank landmarks by how well known they are?
@AfricaFlying 710 greenhouse polygons is a wild density check. When I drape OSM ski runs on DEM meshes, missing tags show up the same way once you see them in 3D. How noisy are those outlines at that zoom?
@berttemme Local projection support is huge for small AOIs. Do you keep the DEM in the same CRS as the vectors, or reproject on the fly for the terrain mesh?
@kushmergedeck It covers the wait now β you pick the trail on the clay while assets load, so the run can start as soon as the mesh is ready. Still watching bounce on slower connections; curious what felt longest on your end.
Ski game on https://t.co/nyrL9Mdsts: pick your trail on the clay hill while the mountain loads β no second map. Finish a run and Find hotels nearby is right there too. #skiing#indiedev#buildinpublic#gamedev
@urs69141 DEM heightmap first, then drape the OSM run and lift lines onto the mesh in three.js β no second surface. Mt. Hood with Timberline would be a great spin; glacier edges are where the DEM really earns its keep.
Ever skied a volcano? Mt. Bachelor on real 3D terrain.
101 named OpenStreetMap runs, like Wanoga Way and Avalanche.
Which Pacific Northwest mountain should I spin next?
