This attitude is what makes me ASHAMED to be a Canadian.

Instead of celebrating greatness by someone who has a legitimate claim to Canadian citizenship and whom Canada provided some of his education, you tear him down even though he doesn’t spend his time and money on super yachts and mansions but on improving HUMANITY‘S odds of surviving an apocalypse.

He invests that money in jobs, and making things that are industry changing. He literally created the electric car industry. He reduced the cost of launch 100x. He reduced the cost of building tunnels 10x. He invented computer brain interfaces that help quadriplegics interact with the world.

This same attitude is why Canadians have been told to hate NorTel, Alcan, Avro, Canadair, RIM/Blackberry. Every time some entrepreneur or Canadian company outside the Laurentian Elite raises their head above the crowd ASSHOLES like you chop it off.

We saw it with NorTel, with Avro, with RIM/Blackberry, with Alcan, with Canadair, and thousands more. In Canada, it is dangerous to be the wild duck who sees the better path.

Elon has the right to maintain his Canadian citizenship and rather than be proud that Canada had some small part in his learning and growth, assholes like this (and frankly most Canadians who open their mouths about him) can’t bear to see him succeed- even when he is focused not on buying bigger and more ostentatious yachts and mansions but on giving humanity a chance to survive a potential apocalypse.
