It's possible they left it in because the character of Quint was drunk and traumatized, and had blocked out/forgotten the date. In a way, the error almost makes the moment more powerful. Quint talks tough, but is a deeply fractured human being. He could give a f*** about dates at this point in his life. 🦈⚓️
