"Eleven hundred men went in the water. Three hundred and sixteen men come out. The sharks took the rest.
June the 29th, 1945." One of the greatest movie monologues ever--even though Quint got the date wrong. The USS Indianapolis was sunk just after midnight on July 30th, 1945. It's possible they left it in because the character of Quint was drunk and traumatized, and had blocked out/forgotten the date. In a way, the error almost makes the moment more powerful. Quint talks tough, but is a deeply fractured human being. He could give a f*** about dates at this point in his life. 🦈⚓️
@TheFrankIsola It’s tempting to go down that road, but this is flawed logic (non-equivalence).
If Coach —> No championship
Does NOT Equal
If No Championship —> Coach
I really expected better from Celtics fans. Idk why, but I did. Blaming this on the Tatum injury or this lame ass “congrats on your 2nd round win!” angle is such a soft ass cop out. Boston & the entire world said the Knicks don’t belong in the same gym and you crumbled. Own it.
