MY parents both are officers in the military (now divorced), but my mom did ALL of the work at home on top of her military job. Now she is a single mom, still active duty army of 27 years. All this to say that I’m lucky to grow up raised by such a badass, inspirational woman 💕

Grandparents on my mom’s side are both independent, hard-working teammates. They both came from poorer families and never once was there the question that they wouldn’t work hard to provide their family a better life than they had. Worked together to provide opportunity for kids.

@patriotact does a great episode that talks about rap in countries like Turkmenistan and China and the censorship/threats they face for putting out messages that threaten the state (and the propaganda that the state creates in response). Worth watching, I believe. ;) #UTmaledicta

@SLAVAMPIRES I mentioned being surprised that rap/hip-hop was the medium by which people in other countries rallied around when looking for an outlet for frustrations. But then I thought again... when you are living oppressed, you aren’t aloud to be “too vocal.” #UTmaledicta

But it’s surprising how many governments and even religious organizations appropriate hip-hop to their messages in order to attract the younger generation. It weakens the true power and purpose that the genre was originally meant to represent.
