On September 19, 1991, the Parliament declared the national symbols of the Belarusian people to be the state symbols of the Republic of Belarus.
Despite the ban on national symbols following the establishment of a pro-Russian fascist dictatorship in 1995/96, in 2020 millions of Belarusians demonstrated for the restoration of democracy with national flags.
Kalinouski Regiment held an action on the border with the Republic of Belarus dedicated to the Day of the National Flag. Soliders of the Regiment together with volunteers launched a huge flag into the sky. The flag flew in the direction of Belarus.
