When you realize that our society, economy, nation, civilization, and species are currently unsustainable and are in a death spiral unless fundamental, systemic change happens in the next few years, politics looks very different—it’s literally our global survival that’s at stake.
Trumpian crony capitalism and authoritarianism seek to make the majority of people too poor, sick, exhausted, polarized, distracted, and hopeless that we don’t organize and mobilize to oust the oligarchs (but not so completely desperate that we revolt), while they rob us blind.
Most Americans don’t understand power. They believe norms, institutions, laws, and the Constitution will preserve our democracy. They won’t unless backed by real power: governmental power, and/or corporate power, and/or the power of the people.
Voting alone will not stop Trump.
If we had only let Trump assume power once, we might have been forgiven.
But we let Trump assume power twice—knowing full well who he is and what he’s capable of—so the civilized world will never trust us again, and they shouldn’t.
It’s not just Trump—it’s us.
America is over.
Here is what most people don’t understand: Trump can’t let himself be removed from office.
Trump can’t risk losing power, because he can’t risk going to prison.
Trump will do *anything* to avoid going to prison and I do mean *anything*.
The window of opportunity is limited and shrinking for the working class to secure Universal Basic Income and Universal Basic Services, because AI and robotics all too soon will make most people structurally unemployable. #GeneralStrike before it’s too late.
@DrLoomis0 Exactly right @DrLoomis0. The Democratic Party Leadership doesn’t understand that Trump doesn’t care about norms, laws, or the Constitution. Trump’s view is: “Fuck you, who’s going to stop me?” So far, no one.
It seems like the leadership of the Democratic Party has no plan for what to do when Trump either cancels the November election or overturns the results after the fact.
You can't play "fair" in a rigged game. You have to rewrite the rules and play to win, especially if it's for democracy, freedom, and voting rights.
Republicans make up shit all the time to implement minority rule.
Be like James Kirk, Dems, and beat the unbeatable Kobiyashu Maru.
Billions of people are going to be structurally unemployable by the end of the decade.
Without Universal Basic Income and Universal Basic Services those billions of structurally unemployable people will suffer, starve, and then die.
Yes, that’s what we are facing all too soon.
It’s just mind-boggling to me how the belief that we still have a functioning democracy is ultimately what will lead to the complete death of our democracy.
Normalcy Bias will be our undoing every damn time.
