You can’t say you’re not a descendant of enslaved people and then demand reparations for slavery. On what basis would you be entitled to them?

Reparations are about those who suffered under slavery and their descendants—not simply about being Black. The moment you draw a line separating yourself from that lineage, you undermine your own claim to reparations. You can’t reject that ancestry and claim compensation based on it at the same time.

If you consider yourselves a new generation of Black people, then reparations are not owed to you. Reparations were owed to the people who were actually enslaved. At the time slavery was abolished, they were the ones who should have received reparations.

So if you consider yourselves a new generation and claim that you are not part of the African diaspora that the enslaved people were the African diaspora—then you are separating yourselves from the very people who were enslaved. You are saying that you are no longer the same people.

By that logic, you are not entitled to reparations. The people who were enslaved were the ones who deserved those reparations. So stop demanding reparations.
