Part of it yes
You also want to play around with carbs & electrolytes, espeically sodium
High carb + high water + high sodium = You keep sucking up water
Low carb + high water + low sodium = You piss everything out
High carb + low water + moderate-to-high sodium = Muscles swollen up, skin remains tight, pump is glorious
High carb + high water + low sodium = Muscles swollen up, skin remains tight, pump is better than on no carbs but not insane
Now add Potassium into the equation at 2X the amount of Sodium at any point and you can keep feeling & looking like an absolute Demigod at any stage thanks to the blood flow & cardiovascular benefits
The reason I brought up water intake in the first place:
What do folks forget about/get limited at first when they get sick/food poisoned/etc.?
1) Water intake
2) Food intake
So when you can't work out for a week, are inflammated, drink less water, etc. that (whatever amount of) food (with most likely any amount of carbs in it) with all its Sodium direct that little water you had into retention
So you blow up like a balloon while your muscles feel flat due to gylcogen depletion and the lack of training stimulus
