This was our announcement for Spotify launching in the U.S., 14 years ago.

At the time, we weren’t sure if people here would embrace it the same way they had in Europe. We launched invite only because we didn’t know what kind of demand to expect, or honestly if we were even ready for it 😅That changed quickly. Word spread faster than we imagined, and within weeks we had to open it up to everyone. I still remember those conversations: wondering if American users would get the value of streaming, if we could compete in a market where piracy was so widespread, and if our small team could support it.

Looking back, it was a leap but one I’m grateful we took.

For 4 years in a row, KAROL G has been the most streamed female Latin music artist globally on Spotify and now she’s the latest artist to take over FC Barcelona’s shirt. It’s no surprise to anyone that the growth of Latin music has been massive over the last few years - as has the reach of fútbol across new markets, so it’s very cool to see these two worlds colliding. 🤝 ⚽️Excited to see these on the field.️
