The best case scenario, that’s still within reason, for the Oct. 4 election in Bosnia is that the new election machine produce breakthroughs for the RS opposition and non-HDZ Croat parties; securing them enough seats to make them viable coalition partners at BiH and FBiH levels.

Among the Bosniak electorate, we can only hope for a coalescing of the vote after 2022’s extreme fragmentation. Everyone will have their own preferences how that vote should come together - whether towards the SDA, Troika, DF/SBiH - but as long as the Ramo Isak-PDA style parties collapse (Isak, specifically), you’ll almost inevitably have more stable and transparent governance.

In sum, a 2018-2022 style cabinet, featuring the RS opposition plus perhaps the ‘Croat Five’ would certainly be an improvement over what has been one of the worst mandates in Bosnia’s postwar history.
