You order a coffee and they hand it to you in this.
You: Uhhh do you not have coffee cups?
Them: This is just as good.
You: It’s burning my hand though and it’s spilling.
Them: It holds coffee, doesn’t it?
You: But there’s a cup designed for this that is insulated and has a lid!
Do any other autistic people often take things the opposite way to how they’re intended? I do. When family would say “you probably find visiting us boring?” I used to think they were hinting that they didn’t want to see me, not looking for reassurance I enjoyed their company.
As a chronically ill person if I tell someone how bad I’m really doing then I might be viewed as negative or bothersome but if I don’t tell them how bad I’m doing then they might assume I’m doing good or was just being dramatic at some point. It sucks how you can never win.
