I believe that great leadership begins with curiosity and integrity. My goal is to help create schools where teachers feel supported, students are inspired, and everyone continues to grow. 🌱

@C_Hendrick They want to discredit explicit instruction & since it tends to result in better achievement (as measured by some test), they must argue that explicit instruction doesn't work for other things that can't be measured. Because they can't be measured the claim is unfalisifiable.
We use the term “teacher shortage.”
But, let’s call it what it is.
A salary shortage.
A support shortage.
A respect shortage.
A feeling-valued shortage.
A classroom-supply shortage.
A trust-in-teachers shortage.
When teachers lead the clarity conversation, systems finally align with the real instructional rhythm inside classrooms.
This isn’t radical.
It’s responsible leadership.
Clarity becomes possible when leaders ask simple questions:
• “What do you need right now?”
• “What’s adding confusion or noise?”
• “What should we pause for 90 days?”
These questions cost nothing…
and change everything.
Because teachers already know:
• what their students need
• what’s working
• what’s getting in the way
• where clarity breaks down
• which practices actually move learning
You don’t get instructional insight by adding initiatives—you get it by listening.
Feeling pulled in too many directions—new resources, new strategies, new goals.
Growth takes time.
Teachers, like students, need space to build fluency before the next challenge.

We often talk about “student engagement,” but it can mean so many things.
I’m curious—how do you define it?
What does cognitive engagement look like when students are truly thinking, not just doing?
