Greetings, Adventurers! 🧙♂️
I wanted to create an alternate version of the Dun Baldar Bridge illustration. Instead of focusing on the battle, I aimed to craft a more emotional experience.
In this rendition, a solitary dwarf mountaineer, the lone survivor, bears witness to the orc invasion of their settlement. 🔥
I hope you like this version as well! 😊

Greetings, Adventurers! 🧙♂️
Captain Balinda is waiting for the Frostwolf to raid her fortress if they dare! ⚔️
I remember the AV chat spammed with "Rush Balinda!" Good times.
The animated version is coming soon. I hope you like it! 😊💙

Working at Blizzard was easily some of the best and worst experiences I've had anywhere during my career so far. A number of the issues you've described here are not unique... which is the real nightmare.
When I was on Night Crew QA I was paid $10.50/hr when the starting rate for a Grocery Bagger at Trader Joes was $12.00/hr. This isn't possible to live on in Southern CA and makes no sense for one of the largest gaming companies in the world.
One day during our shift we were told a "Critical Task" had come in and we all needed to be on it immediately. The task sheet was on paper and had like 30 or so steps. We were told to read the entire thing and then perform the task.
Reading through I found a step in the middle that said to turn off my computer, stand up, and leave the room. After fully reading the rest of the sheet I did so. The last two people on the team to do so were fired and the rest of us went to Day Crew. My pay was then reduced by $0.50/hr due to no longer having a "Night Crew Differential".
I am very happy to be an indie dev today.
if anyone has continued so far, thank you for listening 💚💚💚💚
idk what the point of this is, but, i needed to get it off my chest. blizzard had every opportunity to do the right thing, and they continually failed at that.
and, you may be rightfully thinking "oh, so this is a *paid* 3 months, right? you cant stop someone from working at ALL for 3 months without paying the-..." INCORRECT that is exactly what they did, and unfortunately, completely legal, because get fucked, i guess???
i ask HR if they think that it is ethically okay to pay me less than 50% of every person for doing the same job?
they tell me "why would we pay you more than we have to? that doesnt make any business sense"
i realise i am talking to a person who doesnt give a shit about people
so, enough time has passed now for me to talk about why i decided to leave Blizzard. a mixed year with great teammates, but a management that mistreated, lied to me, gaslit me, gave me a fake promotion, and HR that refused to help.
buckle up friendos. 💪
Blizzard and Riot have a lot of things in common. They're both "player-first" companies, they both explore lots of genres, and they both asked many staff to come back to the office, then held mass layoffs.
This week's newsletter is about remote work: https://t.co/gqgr47LEbp
Microsoft, which recently became a $3 TRILLION company, has laid off 1900 employees from Xbox and Activision Blizzard. You can't make this up.
Oh and it's not even February and 2024's total games industry layoffs (~5,600) is already well over half of 2023's total (~10,500).
I’ve been laid off from activision blizzard after 13 years of employment.
I was the sole income earner for our household so leads on new positions would be appreciated
These Xbox layoffs are such a mess that staff across Activision Blizzard are texting *me* to try to find out if they might be impacted. Nearly 2,000 job cuts and people now just have to wait around to see if they're part of the bloodbath
Multiple sources tell me that Microsoft is laying off the entire internal customer support team(s) for ABK games, save a few.
MS will outsource the rest to external companies abroad.
ABK was one of the few games pubs with a high-quality internal customer support team.
Microsoft has also shut down departments dedicated to bringing Xbox games to physical retail ... which if you've seen the digital-only Xbox console leaks ... well, you can get an idea of where Microsoft is going here.

I've been boycotting/not streaming any Blizzard products for years at this point and said I'd only return if Bobby Kotick left.
If he actually leaves, I'll do StarCraft, Hearthstone, and other Blizzard content in 2024.
It will be good to see him go.
