I'm honored to stand with the protestors of #HongKong who serve as a reminder that freedom must never be taken for granted. I applaud my colleagues in the Senate for passing the HK Human Rights & Democracy Act, which passed the House unanimously last month.
The U.S. Senate has now joined the House of Representatives in passing the Hong Kong Human Rights and Democracy Act. The people of #HongKong have woken up to the news that both branches of the U.S. Congress stand with you in your fight for democracy and the rule of law.

1/2 Translation: When detained in the police station, I only got one piece of bread with wasabi all on it or a golf-ball sized rice ball with dust on it to be forced to eat by the police. We don’t have water to drink.
Tonight the United States Senate unanimously passed the Hong Kong Human Rights and Democracy Act.
Tonight we affirmed that we will do our part to hold accountable those who violate basic human rights in #HongKong
