This is just terrible. Just terrible. My colleague and friend, Caroline Fohlin, has been severely mistreated by the authorities on the campus of Emory. She is literally one of the nicest people I have met in this profession. Really sad.
Can wealth inequality negatively affect economic growth? In this paper, joint with P. Martinelli Lasheras, we investigate the link between land inequality and economic development in Italy during its key period of structural transformation (1951-2001). https://t.co/V04JTO0pXh

As an economic historian working on interwar Italy,I don't like simplistic comparisons between Trump and historical fascism. Today in my archival research I got an unexpected proof of the difference: even Mussolini declared 100,000 lire of taxable income! (c.92,000€ today) (1/6)
...still,even Mussolini's fiscal compliance was better than Trump's-or was he a better entrepreneur? As @ilduce2016 reminds us,he definitely knew his catchy slogans: https://t.co/kX8HWuZyq6 ..but it seems US got a problem with taxing the rich, even by fascist 🇮🇹 (low)standards(6/6)
#gadzidisout facci sto piacere và, sennò facciamo la fine dell’Arsenal che c ha i conti buoni ma i tifosi avvelenati perché non ci fai vincere mai un bel niente in 20 anni!!
Today @Lagarde takes over at the ECB. Amongst her challenges: dealing with a German public deeply sceptical of ECB policies. In a new paper @LHaffert, @tobirommel and I study the historic roots of this scepticism. Spoiler: it's a misunderstanding. https://t.co/V7opDSp7HE (1/n)

Today, Italy "celebrates" 100 years from the "victory" of WWI. In my recent WP for @HHBproject, based on my MPhil work at @OxfordESH, I estimate new series of labour shares from 1895. A "victory" for the few. #econhis#4novembre Full paper available at: https://t.co/7QzHzLCPv3
