@flopezluis Para mi el problema es que muchos ingenieros han estado siempre muy centrados en el hecho de escribir código y no en el outcome. A esas personas les da igual un x10 de outcome y además están perdiendo aquello que les hacía sentirse identificados con su trabajo: escribir código

aws spent at least a decade acquiring a bunch of customers who pay by cpu time before they launched serverless options

the root idea was that aws could absorb idle CPU costs because they had enough demand for it to all balance out

with LLM inference the idea of serverless is here on day 1 - we all pretty much want to pay by token

but the providers do not have enough scale to actually offer that product well and idle GPUs are a lot more expensive

Yesterday I attended a conference and, among others, there were talks about how to build rockets to ship stuff to the space, how to shynthesize drugs with IA and how to help people who suffered brain strokes (with IA of course)

It’s impossible to not feel bad when you just move bytes around

Me fascinan los devinfluencers q no trabajan en ninguna empresa, su experiencia en equipos es nula o con suerte un par de veces y twittean sobre cómo se trabaja en equipo, sobre productividad en una empresa o cómo gestionarla. Y los followers rt porq dice lo que les gusta oír 🤦🏻

somebody notices a performance issue or missing case in a feature they don’t own or maintain

instead of creating a ticket, they try to be nice and prompt their way to a PR

In my 20 years of consulting, you wouldn’t believe how many times I’ve been told urgent deadlines that ended up being fake.

Now I ask for details on why a deadline is real. Is there an event this will be used at? Are you preparing for the start of the school year? What exactly is the deadline based on?

Otherwise it’s fake and I’ll just proceed at the best possible sustainable speed.

I realized something else AI has changed about coding: you don't get stuck anymore.

Programming used to be punctuated by episodes of extreme frustration, when a tricky bug ground things to a halt. That doesn't happen anymore.

My current agentic workflow is about 5x faster, better quality, I understand the system better, and I’m having fun again.

My previous workflows have left me exhausted, overwhelmed, and feeling out of touch with the systems I was building. They also degraded quality too much.

This is way better.

I’m not ready to describe in detail. It’s still evolving a bit. But I’ll give you a high level here.

I call this the Night Shift workflow.
